A reddit user discovered a platinum medal in Pokémon GO that seems almost impossible to achieve. Because it takes a full 12 years to earn this achievement.
What are medals? Medals are special achievements that players can earn in Pokémon Go by reaching certain milestones.
For example, there are awards for distances traveled, caught pocket monsters, or special actions. Each medal has four different tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Additionally, some of these tiers unlock certain bonuses, such as higher success chances when catching a specific type of Pokémon (via Niantic).
What achievement is it about? User throwupandaway71 recently posted a screenshot showing a special achievement in Pokémon GO.
The platinum medal is titled “Ultra Hero”. To earn it, players must defeat the Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni a total of 50 times.
This may not sound too tragic at first, but as the user correctly asks, the boss can only be fought in the game every 3 months.
The Reddit user g_pelly mentioned that he has fought against Giovanni every time since the launch of the boss whenever he saw him. But with only 21 victories, he hasn’t even reached half of the achievement yet.
How do you fight Giovanni? To challenge the big Rocket boss, you need to use the Super Rocket Radar to locate him.
If nothing changes in the 3-month rhythm in which you can challenge Giovanni, players can only obtain the medal as early as the year 2031.
Although Pokémon Go was released in 2016, the big Rocket boss made his debut only in 2019.
