Many people, especially in rural areas, know the problem. While you feel like playing Pokémon GO, somehow the whole place doesn’t feel very active anymore. One player has now taken this problem into his own hands.
How did the player manage that? In the Pokémon GO subreddit, the player Fabulous Ring describes how he got fed up with practically playing alone in his town. So he decided to declare war on the other players there who are not on Team Yellow.
According to his own statements, this means everyone except himself. Because the village is a blue fortress, and he alone is the only yellow Pokémon fan in the village. But he has something that the others don’t have, he writes: ‘A lot of free time and caffeine.’
So he made it his mission to reclaim every gym in the city practically immediately: I jumped on my bike right away and took them back. […] I was at war with the Blues and for every Chansey, I responded with a Snorlax and 10 golden Razz Berries.
What has this achieved? According to the fan himself, this had mainly two effects. One very positive, and one somewhat negative. On the positive side, he has likely annoyed everyone so much that people persuaded their friends and families to start playing Pokémon GO again to reclaim the gyms. Because the number of active players in his area has roughly doubled, he continues to write.
Less good is that Team Blue is striking back with great power. Meanwhile, the enemy players have likely noted his sleeping times and, by tracking his response time to gyms, could encircle his house to counteract him perfectly.
As a moral of the whole story, he draws only the conclusion: If your community is not active enough, just destroy their Poké Coin income.
The classic Team Yellow experience
How are people reacting? Other Pokémon GO players on Reddit are impressed by his dedication, and even fans from other teams congratulate him on his success. Some fellow sufferers can also be found among the commenters.
As user 108souls writes: This is the classic Team Yellow experience. There are no other instinct players within a 50-kilometer radius.
Other users from Team Yellow join this experience and call it the “Hard-Mode” of Pokémon GO.
Moreover, many fans report similar situations in their neighborhood and discuss the best ways to claim gyms for themselves and to annoy other people deliberately.
