What kind of Pokémon is this? Pam-Pam is a new monster from the Kalos region, of the Fighting type, which has recently appeared in the game thanks to the completed Fairy Bonus.
Its evolution, Pandagro, is of the Dark and Fighting types, but cannot be evolved simply by spending candy. We will take a closer look at the evolution here.
This is how you complete the adventure for Pam-Pam’s evolution into Pandagro
This is how to evolve Pam-Pam: As with some newer monsters like Flauschling and Parfi before it, Pam-Pam’s evolution is tied to a small task. Evolving into Pandagro requires not only 50 candies but also catching 32 Dark-type monsters while Pam-Pam is your buddy. You need to proceed as follows:
- Set Pam-Pam as your buddy
- Catch 32 Dark-type monsters
- Collect Pam-Pam candies until you have 50
Now Pam-Pam is ready to evolve.
Why so complicated? In the main Pokémon games, Pam-Pam has a unique method of evolution. It evolves when it reaches level 32. However, a Dark-type monster must also be in the trainer’s team at the same time. If these conditions are met, Pam-Pam evolves into Pandagro. In Pokémon GO, the method was implemented a bit differently with the 32 Dark-type monsters requirement.
Where to find Pam-Pam and Dark-type Pokémon?
This is how you get Pam-Pam: Since May 11 at 10:00 AM, Pam-Pam is exclusively available in Level 1 raids after trainers have completed the Fairy Catch Challenge. It will remain there until May 17 at 8:00 PM. It is weak against Flying, Psychic, and Fairy Pokémon. You can gain an advantage with these monsters. However, the Level 1 battle should generally not pose much of a challenge.
After that, the monster doesn’t disappear but rather changes location. On May 18, the Yveltal event with Team Rocket starts. From this point onwards, you will find Pam-Pam in the “Strange Eggs” – that is, the 12-kilometer eggs you can get after defeating Team GO Rocket.
Thus, there are opportunities to obtain both Pam-Pam and the required candies for its evolution.
Where can I find Dark-type monsters? If you currently see few Dark-type monsters in your area, you can also look forward to the Yveltal event. More Dark-type monsters like Houndour and Carvanha are expected to appear in the wild. Additionally, you may encounter Galarian Zigzagoon in a limited research task, which also falls into the Dark category. So if you are currently seeing too few Dark-type monsters, you will have better chances starting May 18.
