Pokémon GO brings back a feature that was recently removed. However, this feature has unfortunately been slightly adjusted upon its return.
What kind of change is this? Just before the big Nature Zone event in Pokémon GO, there was an update that brought a significant improvement to the game. This allowed you to join your friends who were in raids via Remote Raid and even invite your own friends to the raid.
However, with the end of the Nature Zone, the feature in Pokémon GO was disabled again, much to the dismay of many trainers. Now it is once again available in the game, albeit in a weakened form.

What does the feature look like now? You now once again have the opportunity to join your friends when they are in raids. You can also filter your friends list accordingly to see friends who are currently active in a raid.
However, it is no longer possible for you to invite additional friends to the lobby, and they cannot invite their friends either. This was still possible in November but has now been removed with the reintroduction of the feature. You can only join a raid in this way alone.
Additionally, this method is only possible for raids that can generally be accessed with a Remote Raid Pass. This therefore excludes Crypto Raids and Elite Raids.
Niantic itself updated the article on this topic a few hours ago and states on the corresponding help page:
“Note that once you join a raid from your friends list, you cannot invite any other trainers from your friends list to this specific raid. Certain types of raids that cannot be joined via Remote Raids, such as Crypto Raids and Elite Raids, cannot be accessed through the friends list.”
