In Pokémon GO you can currently get the new, cheap “Boostbox” – at least theoretically. Because the box doesn’t appear in the shop for everyone.
What kind of box is this? Currently, there are different boxes in the Pokémon GO shop that are labeled “limited time only”. These include the “Apprentice Box” (400 coins), “Expert Box” (900 coins), and “Exploration Box” (1850 coins).
Yet, for some players, another box appears: the “Boostbox” for the cheaper 99 coins.
What’s inside the Boostbox? As of now, there seem to be two different Boostboxes. The first Boostbox contains one Raid Pass and two Lucky Eggs. A Raid Pass normally costs 100 coins, and a Lucky Egg costs 80 coins. Thus, you get items worth 260 coins for 99 coins.
The second Boostbox may contain a regular incubator and a super incubator, also for 99 coins. This way, you could secure items worth 350 coins at a lower price.
But only if you also have the box in the shop. And that’s not the case for everyone.
Players wonder about missing box
Not everyone has the box: In the Pokémon GO subreddit and in the subreddit “TheSilphRoad” there are scattered posts on the topic, where players discuss the new boxes (via reddit).
So some players have both versions of the Boostbox in the shop, while others can only select one Boostbox. However, many players report that they simply have none of the boxes available.
They can only select the other three, more expensive boxes, and only became aware of the box through the posts.
Even in the MeinMMO editorial office, there were differences in the testing. So two accounts had none of the Boostboxes available, while one account could at least select the Boostbox with one Raid Pass and two Lucky Eggs.
What is the reason for this? Currently, there is no official information on the system by which the boxes are distributed or why they only appear conditionally.
However, there have been situations in the past in Pokémon GO where players could pick up different items – for example, in the case of the daily free boxes, which could change.
It is also conceivable that this is a testing phase. As soon as there is more information about the Boostbox, we will keep you updated here.
