As in every month, the field research tasks and their rewards in Pokémon GO were adjusted for October 2021. We at MeinMMO have looked at the new quests and show you which ones you should not miss.
What kind of tasks are these? The field research tasks are the daily quests that you can spin at PokéStops. Right at the turn of the month, these are adjusted by Niantic and you receive new rewards. This is also the case in October 2021.
How do you get them? To access the field research, you only have to spin at PokéStops. The quests are displayed to you in the “Field” category. You can find this by clicking on the binoculars in your map view.
At the same time, you can always collect up to 3 of these tasks. If you want another one, you must first complete a quest. You have unlimited time to process them, but you can also delete it if you are not interested in that field research.
All Field Research Tasks in October 2021
As you know from the last months, there are again numerous field research tasks from various areas in October 2021. We have summarized the tasks for you with the help of LeekDuck’s overview in the respective categories (via LeekDuck/reddit).
We also tell you which quests are particularly worthwhile. All Pokémon that we have marked with a (*) can also be caught in their shiny form with a bit of luck.
All Catching Quests
As the name of this category suggests, these tasks are about catching specific Pokémon. Often, the rewards for these tasks involve rather unspectacular monsters. However, this is different in October. You should definitely take advantage of the two field researches with Shuppet.
Even if this monster is not particularly strong, you should secure a specimen for your Pokédex. The Ghost- and Dark-type Pokémon can only be seen in the game once a year: around the Halloween season. After October, it usually disappears again.
It does not spawn in the wild, so completing the tasks is the only way to get it. Additionally, you might encounter a shiny Shuppet with some luck.

All Throwing Quests
In these quests, you have to showcase your throwing skills. Particularly interesting are the encounters with Houndoom and Pansage. The Fire- and Dark-type Pokémon Houndoom can evolve into Houndoom. This belongs to the best Dark attackers in Pokémon GO.
Pansage, on the other hand, is a somewhat rarer Pokémon. You can currently only get it through the field research tasks. It has various fur patterns that change regularly. In October, you will find fur pattern 1.

All Fighting Quests
These tasks revolve around battling in the GO Battle League, raids, or against Team GO Rocket. The most interesting monster here is Scyther. This bug can evolve into Scizor, which is one of the strongest Bug-type attackers.
So if you need a strong Bug Pokémon for your collection, here is your chance to find one. With a bit of luck, you may even encounter a shiny specimen.

All Quests with Buddy and Friends
In these field researches, your buddy Pokémon and your friends are involved in completing the tasks. You are supposed to trade Pokémon, send gifts, or earn hearts and candies with your buddy.
However, the rewards for these tasks in October are not particularly spectacular. If you are missing a shiny specimen of Furfrou, Swablu, or Goomy, you can try your luck with these quests.

Field Research Breakthroughs in October 2021
As with the field research tasks, the research breakthrough also changes with the turn of the month. This is available to you when you have completed at least one field research task on 7 days. For each day, you receive a stamp. Once you have collected all 7, you can claim the reward.
From October 1, 2021, at 10:00 PM local time until November 1, 2021, at 10:00 PM local time, you will find the Ghost-type Pokémon Makabaja in the research breakthrough. This can evolve into Echnatoll and is also available in its shiny form in the game. You can recognize it by its dark blue body and silver mask.
However, the Pokémon GO community is not thrilled with this research breakthrough. We have summarized for you why trainers are annoyed by Makabaja in the reward.
