Tomorrow, a new Rocket takeover will start in Pokémon GO. In addition to the return of Crypto-Mewtwo, there is a strong debut, the possibility to unlearn Frustration with a TM, and additional content. We will show you the details of the event.
What kind of event is this? At regular intervals, there is the so-called Rocket takeover in Pokémon GO. Here, Team GO Rocket focuses on new strategies and Pokémon. Even Giovanni, the boss of Team GO Rocket, will be present at the event.
During the event, you have the opportunity to collect many strong and new Crypto-Pokémon and unlearn the charged attack Frustration. We will show you everything you need to know for the Rocket takeover in March 2024.
Overview of the Rocket event starting March 27, 2024
When does the event start? The event starts on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 00:00. It will be active until Sunday, March 31, 2024, at 23:59.
What bonuses are there in the event?
- At the beginning of the event, you will receive a new special research, at the end of which you will receive a Super Rocket Radar. With this, you can face Giovanni and obtain a Crypto-Groudon. You have until June 1, 2024, at 09:59 to claim the special research.
- Team GO Rocket appears more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons
- You can unlearn the charged attack Frustration from your Crypto-Pokémon by using charged TMs. There are Pokémon for which unlearning Frustration is particularly worthwhile.
- Through field research, you can obtain mysterious components, instant and charged TMs
Overview of Pokémon in the Rocket event
What legendary Crypto-Pokémon are there in the event? In addition to the Crypto-Groudon, which you can obtain through the special research, there is another legendary Crypto-Pokémon in the event. This is Crypto-Mewtwo, which you can challenge and catch in 5*-Crypto-Raids.
If you don’t have a Crypto-Mewtwo yet, this event is the perfect opportunity for you to get one. With this Pokémon, you will have the strongest attacker in Pokémon GO.
Crypto-Mewtwo will be available in Crypto-Raids on Saturday, March 30, 2024, and Sunday, March 31, 2024.
What new Crypto-Pokémon are there? The following Pokémon will appear in the game in their Crypto variant for the first time during the event:

- Crypto-Flamper
- Crypto-Mollimorba
- Crypto-Monozyto
What Pokémon will be in the event in the wild? During the Rocket takeover, you can encounter the following Pokémon in the wild:
- Krookodile*
- Sableye*
- Felilou*
- Zurrokex*
- Iscalar*
- Zorua* (rare)
- Skallyk* (rare)
- Kapuno* (rare)
Pokémon marked with a * can also be encountered as shinies.
What Pokémon are there in 12-km eggs during the event? The following Pokémon can be hatched from 12-km eggs that you received during the event:
- Larvitar*
- Ganovil*
- Gladiantri*
- Skallyk*
- Kapuno*
- Pam-Pam*
- Molunk
- Knattox
Pokémon marked with a * can also hatch as shiny Pokémon. Ganovil will be available as shiny in Pokémon GO for the first time.

Additional content of the Rocket event
Time-limited research: During the event, there will also be a free, time-limited research. You can receive items and event Pokémon for completing the research tasks.
PokéStop Showcases: There will also be PokéStop Showcases during the Rocket takeover, featuring Pokémon from the event.
Paid time-limited research: For €2.49, you can purchase a paid time-limited research from the Pokémon GO shop. This will be available in the shop until March 30, 2024, at 23:59. The goal is to defeat Team GO Rocket Grunts. For completing the tasks, you will receive the following rewards:
- 6 mysterious components
- 1 Super Incubator
- 1 Rocket Radar
- 1 encounter with Gladiantri
You have until March 31, 2024, at 23:59 to complete the research and claim your rewards.
Other purchasable content: For $9.99 (approximately €10), you can also purchase a Team GO Rocket box from the Pokémon GO webstore. This includes:
- 7 Rocket Radars
- 7 Premium Battle Passes
- 7 Hyper Balls
- 7 silver Nanab Berries
Additionally, there is an event bundle available in the Pokémon GO shop. This costs 300 PokéCoins and includes:

New avatar pose: With the start of the event, a new avatar pose will also be unlocked. You can continue to purchase it even after the event.
