A trainer from Pokémon GO is wondering on Reddit why his Xerneas is changing. There is a very simple explanation for this.
What kind of Pokémon is Xerneas? Xerneas is a legendary Pokémon from the 6th generation. It is of the Fairy type and together with the Pokémon Yveltal and Zygarde forms the so-called Aura Trio.

A trainer on Reddit defeated Xerneas in a raid and then caught it. He was very surprised that it changed its color. There is a very simple reason for this.

Different forms, different colors
Why does Xerneas change its color after being caught? When you challenge Xerneas in a raid, the Pokémon is in its active form. It remains in this form when you are able to catch it after the raid. This is the form that Xerneas takes in battles.
Once you catch it, Xerneas switches to the so-called passive form. Now the color of the monster also changes. The previously yellow antlers and yellow stripes are replaced and turn light blue. You can also see this well in the post on Reddit:
Do the values of Xerneas change as well? Unlike other Pokémon like Zygarde, where the stats change with the change of form, this is not the case with Xerneas.
Here, only the color of the monster itself changes with the form. Stats like attack, defense, or hit points, however, remain unchanged.
If you use Xerneas to fight, it switches back to its active form and thus also its color. You can easily test this yourself by starting a fight against one of the team leaders and using Xerneas.
