The passion that many players share for Pokémon GO knows no bounds. For example, there are special mods in GTA 5 where you can catch NPCs in Poké Balls, or open letters that developers of tracking sites send to Niantic, making it clear that players connect many emotions with Pokémon GO. But what do you do when you want to play Pokémon GO but there’s no PokéStop in the village to help you with the game? That’s right, you build a statue.
More than 3 meters tall and 2 tons heavy
Because there are no PokéStops in the Norwegian village Vindenes, the employees of the company “Sotra Anchor & Chain” thought about creating a PokéStop themselves. Jan Vindenes, the head of the company, says: Originally, the idea was to build a small statue for this purpose, but then the plans grew bigger and bigger. The “small statue” ultimately developed into a Poké Ball that is over 3 meters tall and weighs 2 tons – a Snorlax would have enough space inside.
Through this statue, the employees of Sotra hope that the “Pokémon GO” developer Niantic will register it as a PokéStop. However, there has been no response to a letter sent to Niantic so far. The statue was manufactured by Sotra itself. The decoration was handled by another company.
