In addition to Ninjatom, two more Pokémon are newly available in Pokémon GO this November. We will show you how to obtain Nincada and Ninjask.
Ninjatom is not the only Pokémon newly featured in Pokémon GO this November. Other members of its family, Nincada and Ninjask, are also new in the game.
From Field Research: While you can obtain Ninjatom as a research breakthrough, you receive Nincada as a reward from a regular field research.

Nincada, Ninjask & Ninjatom – A different family
Nincada and its evolutions are not a normal family. When evolving from Nincada to Ninjask, a Ninjatom is created in the console game. This, as stated in the games, is formed from the shell that is shed during the evolution.
Different in Pokémon GO: In Pokémon GO, Ninjatom is not formed from the shell of Nincada’s evolution. Ninjatom can only be obtained as a research breakthrough.
Ninjatom with 10 HP: Those who have already claimed the research breakthrough will notice that Ninjatom has only 10 HP. No Pokémon has less. This is due to Ninjatom’s special ability that it has in the console games.
In the console games, “normal” attacks from Pokémon are ineffective against Ninjatom. They deal no damage to Ninjatom. Only attacks that are super effective hit Ninjatom. This allowed players to effectively use Ninjatom against all Pokémon that were weak to it, without taking any damage.
Different in Pokémon GO: That is also different in Pokémon GO. Ninjatom, like every other Pokémon, takes damage from every attack. It is therefore pointless to fight with Ninjatom, as it only has 10 HP and loses against every Pokémon.
How to find Nincada and Ninjask
To encounter a Nincada, you must complete the field research “Catch 5 Bug-type Pokémon”. As a reward, a wild Nincada awaits you.
Not in the wild: Nincada cannot be caught in the wild. You can only get it from field research.
Ninjask through evolution: To obtain Ninjask, you need 50 Nincada candies. Then you can evolve any Nincada into Ninjask. Therefore, catch your Nincada with Razz Berries to gain candies more efficiently.
Evolution to Ninjatom not possible: If you want a Ninjatom, you must claim the research breakthrough. Even though it was possible in the console games, Ninjatom cannot currently be obtained through evolution in Pokémon GO.
