Players had to wait a long time for what the developers of Pokémon GO would say about the current problems.
There is a major problem with Pokémon GO regarding the lack of communication. Many trainers want to know what is currently in planning, what the developers are thinking, or if they are aware of the current problems in the game. However, the developers remained silent and did not inform the trainers through Reddit or social media about what is happening in the game. In the meantime, there is a message on Facebook.
This is what Niantic says about the recent changes in Pokémon GO
In a statement on Facebook, Niantic addressed why the recent changes occurred and what the plans behind them are. The “Nearby Bug” caused a lot of frustration, but the feature for tracking Pokémon has now been completely removed. Niantic states:
“We removed the footprint display from the game to improve the underlying design. Even though the original feature was liked by many, it was confusing and did not meet our goals for the product.”
The ban on websites like PokéVision
Various apps that offered Pokémon GO players an alternative to the “Nearby” function were banned by Niantic and received cease-and-desist notices.
“We have limited access to third-party websites that have prevented us from delivering the quality of Pokémon GO that we envisioned to our players. The large number of users made the launch of the game ‘interesting’. And we are not done yet. Yes, Brazil, we want to bring the game to you (and many other countries where it has not yet been released).”
Niantic also stated that they read all posts and emails and are aware of the frustrations caused by the game not being released in some countries and that important features were removed. Niantic emphasizes that they are working “like crazy” to make the game work as it is released in more countries. “If you haven’t been able to read tweets from us, it’s because our heads are buried in work. We will do our best to keep you updated on what is happening in the future.”

Finally, there is the long-awaited statement from Niantic. In 2016, you cannot keep your players in the dark when launching such a successful game. A more direct connection to the community is important to keep a game running and to maintain a positive fanbase.
