In Pokémon GO the New Year event starts in a few days. Niantic has now announced what the event will bring. We will show you all the bonuses and content, as well as costumed Pokémon that you can catch during the event.
What kind of event is this? To celebrate the transition to the new year 2022 with you, a party will take place in Pokémon GO. There will be costumes and fireworks. Additionally, event bonuses related to hatching eggs, a special research, a time-limited research, and avatar items.

New Year Event 2021 – Start, Shinies, Costumes, Bonuses
When does it start? The event starts on Friday, December 31st at 10:00 PM and runs until January 4th, 2022 at 8:00 PM. The times refer to local time.
New Research: The special research for the season of origin with Spark will continue. In addition, there will be a time-limited research to celebrate the new year, where you can catch Pokémon wearing costumes.
Map Changes: In the game, you will see fireworks. This will take place from December 31st at 11:00 PM until January 2nd at midnight.
Event Bonuses: The bonuses for the event revolve around hatching eggs. You will receive double hatching stardust and double hatching candy. Additionally, the distance required to hatch eggs is reduced by half.
Costumed Pokémon: For the New Year’s Eve party, Pokémon in Pokémon GO will dress up. New this year are Hoothoot with a New Year hat and Slaking with 2022 glasses. You can also find shiny Hoothoot – after the event, you will still find shiny Hoothoot, but without a costume.
