What’s new? On January 28, 2022, the new Pokémon game: Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released. It features many new contents like the Hisui form of Voltorb. Voltorb itself has been around since the first generation of games with its evolution Electrode. For many fans, it is a big deal that such an old Pokémon now has a new form.
Update from January 30: The release of Hisui Voltorb in Pokémon GO is now official. Niantic decided to release the Pokémon with a special research. All tasks and rewards from “Voltorb from the Hisui Region” can be found on MeinMMO.
Developing and catching Hisui Voltorb in Pokémon GO – When will it happen?
This was found: On the evening of January 28, the data miners from PokeMiners discovered changes in the game code. They came across the image of Hisui Voltorb and a placeholder for its shiny form.
There is also an event research related to the new form (via PokeMiners.com). In the research, it says: “This raises the question: Why are the Hisui Voltorb appearing now, after being absent for so long? Have they somehow traveled from the Sinnoh region of the past to the present?”
The text continues: “I have the theory that the breaking of Team GO Rocket’s mysterious door somehow led to these Hisui Voltorb appearing in our time.” The rest of the research has also been leaked, but we don’t want to spoil that for you here.
What does Hisui Voltorb look like? In a trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the new Pokémon was officially introduced. It belongs to the types Electric and Grass.
When could Hisui Voltorb be released? It seems that the Hisui Voltorb could appear shortly after the Rocket event in Pokémon GO. This officially ends on Sunday, January 30, at 10:00 AM local time.
It is therefore quite possible that Niantic will use the time on Sunday and Monday to spawn many Hisui Voltorb in the wild or release the special research. These are also the last days of the Power Plant event – thematically, the release would fit perfectly.
On Tuesday, the Lunar New Year event will start and is expected to bring fewer Electric spawns.
Keep in mind that the findings from the research and the images in Pokémon GO are findings from data miners. There is no guarantee that the Pokémon will come into the game in this form. Niantic could change everything, so these discoveries should always be taken with a grain of skepticism.
In the current environment, around the mysterious door and the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a release of Hisui Voltorb would make sense.
