The Mega Category in Pokémon GO continues to grow: Now Ohrdoch also gets its Mega Form. What does the Raid Day bring?
A new Mega Pokémon lands in Pokémon GO: Ohrdoch’s Mega Evolution will be unlocked during its own Raid Day. This means once again: Go out, collect Raid Passes, defeat Mega Ohrdoch, and gather energy to conduct the evolution yourself.
Update on April 3: The move “Moonblast” cannot be learned by Mega Ohrdoch after all. Instead, it learns “Body Slam”.
When does the Raid Day start? On Saturday, April 5, 2025. The event runs from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
What kind of Pokémon is this? Ohrdoch is a friendly Normal-type Pokémon known for perceiving how you feel through its keen hearing. In Pokémon GO, it yields particularly high Stardust when caught. In its new Mega Evolution, it receives the Fairy type on top.
This is actually a practical combination in Pokémon GO, as there has not been a Mega Evolution of the Fairy / Normal type so far. This means: If you have a Mega Ohrdoch active, you can earn extra candies for Normal and Fairy Pokémon when you catch them.
However, you will need a specimen first. That’s what the Raid Day is for.
All Bonuses and Contents of the Raid Day with Mega Ohrdoch
What happens during the Raid Day? During the three hours, Mega Ohrdoch will appear in nearly all gyms found in the game. You challenge it and can catch the normal version of Ohrdoch after the successful raid. At the same time, you will receive Mega Energy from the raid – the faster you complete it, the more energy you get.
You can then use this energy to mega evolve one of your Ohrdoch specimens. As usual, there are up to five free Raid Passes available from gyms during the Raid Day. Consequently, you can move directly to the next one after the raid to defeat another Mega Ohrdoch and gather more energy.
All event bonuses: The Raid Day brings a few things that you should keep in mind.
- There is an increased shiny chance for Ohrdoch from raids
- Ohrdoch can learn the move “Body Slam” starting from the event
- The remote raid limit will be increased to 20 – from 2:00 AM on Saturday until Sunday at 6:00 AM
- Up to five free Raid Passes from gyms
- There is a paid but optional ticket in the shop for the event. It provides up to 8 additional passes, an increased chance for XL candies, 50% more XP from raids, and double stardust from raids
- Additionally, there will be a timed research, which is free
The timed research will give you 10,000 stardust and an additional 1,000 extra stardust per completed raid.
