In Pokémon GO the first event week on the way to the GO Fest has started. In line with this, the 4th birthday is also being celebrated. There are new shinies, quests, and Pokémon.
How long does the event last now? The celebrations will continue until July 8 at 10:00 PM local time. Three events are being connected here.
New quests, raid bosses, and shinies are coming to Pokémon GO. Additionally, a new Pokémon from Gen 5 is appearing in the game.
All information about the 4th birthday of Pokémon GO
What are the bonuses? The 4th birthday brings numerous bonuses to the game:
- Flying Pokémon and party hat monsters will appear in the wild, in raids, and in eggs
- Shiny Dusselgurr will debut
- Piccolente from the 5th generation is in the wild and in 5 km eggs
- Flying Pikachu, even as shiny, will appear in the wild
- The “Research to Take Off” is available for all players who haven’t completed it yet
- Special Pokémon awaits you in snapshots
- New field research awaits you at the event
What kind of spawns are these? Particularly many flying Pokémon are waiting for you here. Many monsters can be encountered as shiny.
For example, Taubsi, Driftlon, Zubat, and Wingull are appearing more frequently in the wild.
Additionally, the starters from Gen 1, all wearing party hats. Flying Pikachu are also available.
What quests are there? In total, there are 7 new field researches waiting for you:
- Catch 4 flying-type Pokémon
- Reward: 500 Stardust
- Catch 6 flying-type Pokémon
- Reward: 800 Stardust
- Catch 8 flying-type Pokémon
- Reward: 1200 Stardust
- Hatch an egg
- Reward: Encounter with a Wablu*
- Send a gift to a friend
- Reward: Encounter with a Hoppspross
- Use 4 berries when catching Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Taubsi* or Dusselgurr*
- Catch 2 Pokémon with weather boost
- Reward: Encounter with a Kramurx* or Natu*
Particularly worthwhile is the quest that includes Taubsi and Dusselgurr. Here you have the chance to get the new shiny, and with Taubsi, you have another rare shiny as a reward.
What new shinies are there? No surprises here. You can now catch shiny Dusselgurr for the first time. Additionally, the party hat Pokémon and the flying Pikachu appear as shiny.
Otherwise, you can catch many already known shinies. However, those hoping for another shiny were disappointed.
New Raid Bosses for the 4th Birthday

What you need to know about Ho-Oh: The legendary Pokémon will only remain in raids on the weekend. Ho-Oh will be available until July 6 at 10:00 PM local time.

Ability Challenge – All Steps
What kind of task is this? This challenge is meant to prepare for the GO Fest and is available until July 8. If one million trainers from each team complete the research, Palimpalim, Mamolida, and Chaneira will appear at the GO Fest.
The challenge consists of 3 steps that can be completed quickly:
Step 1 of 3
- Catch 20 Pokémon
- Reward: 100 Stardust
- Land 5 good throws
- Reward: 10 Pokéballs
- Use 5 berries when catching Pokémon
- Reward: 5 Razz Berries
Reward for completing the step: 100 XP, a golden Razz Berry and 10 Ultra Balls
Step 2 of 3
- Catch 30 Pokémon
- Reward: 300 Stardust
- Land 10 good throws
- Reward: 10 Ultra Balls
- Send 20 Pokémon
- Reward: 20 Pokéballs
Reward for completing the step: 100 XP, a silver Razz Berry and an encounter with Piccolente
Step 3 of 3
- Catch 50 Pokémon
- Reward: 1000 Stardust
- Land a great throw
- Reward: 10 Hyperballs
- Catch 15 different species of Pokémon
- Reward: 20 Ultra Balls
Reward for completing the step: Encounter with a flying Pikachu, a Rare Candy, and a Star Piece
What happens after the challenge? If you complete the task within the week, the Elite Challenge awaits you. These are slightly trickier tasks you can tackle:
- Catch 100 Pokémon
- Reward: 5 Pokéballs
- Catch 25 different species of Pokémon
- Reward: 5 Ultra Balls
- Land 50 great throws
- Reward: 5 Hyperballs
Reward for completing the step: 500 XP, 5 Razz Berries and 500 Stardust
