Pokémon GO is launching the second event for Mega Weeks. Featured are Shiny Ledyba, new field research, and a new special research. Additionally, you can unlock Mega-Houndoom.
What’s new? On September 11, a new event started in Pokémon GO focusing on Mega Evolutions. For you trainers, many changes await in the game. New spawns, tasks, different Crypto attackers from Team GO Rocket, and even a special research are on the agenda.
Niantic states that trainers should use their Mega Evolutions in gym battles, Team GO Rocket battles, and trainer battles to unlock Mega-Houndoom in Mega Raids. A total of 275 million such battles must be won.
When does it start? The event kicks off on September 11 at 8:00 AM local time.
The event will be active until Thursday, September 17 at 10:00 PM.
The first Mega event of this three-week marathon has already ended.
What changes with the event?
New spawns in the wild: While you are out and about during the event, you will frequently encounter bug Pokémon. Niantic has already mentioned the species you will often meet. These are:
- Wurmple*
- Hoothoot*
- Paras
- Bluzuk*
- Sewaddle*
- Pinsir*
- Ledyba*
- Spinarak
- Waumpel*
- Zirpurze
- and Burmy*
Pokémon marked with a * can even be encountered as Shiny with some luck.
Shiny Ledyba in Pokémon GO
A new Shiny in the wild: With a bit of luck, you might encounter the new Shiny Ledyba. Shiny hunters will surely be pleased since with its evolution Ledian, there are again two candidates on your search list.
You recognize the Shiny form by its lighter appearance compared to the normal form. It looks more orange than red.
New research for Beedrill – different attackers from the Rockets
Mega Beedrill becomes stronger: You will receive Mega Energy for Beedrill from event research. If you use Mega Beedrill in gym battles, Team GO Rocket battles, or trainer battles (not in the GO Battle League), it will receive a temporary CP boost.
Mega Energy from field research is also available for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.
New limited research: Niantic revealed that these quests will revolve around raids and battles. You can find all tasks from the new limited research and their rewards here.
Changes with Team GO Rocket: The members of Team GO Rocket will use different Crypto Pokémon in battles during the event. According to Niantic, (Mega) Beedrill should be effective.
In line with the event, Niantic plans to provide a new 1-coin package for you in the Pokémon GO shop.
