Pokémon GO has finally spoken about Mega Evolutions again after a long silence. An image gives first hints, data miners have found even more. The first Mega Pokémon are likely confirmed.
What’s new? On the evening of August 25, 2020, Pokémon GO tweeted an image about Mega Evolutions. It shows three items that apparently represent Mega Energy.
Mega Energy works similarly to candies in Pokémon GO. You need to collect it to perform a Mega Evolution. These stone-like items in the image apparently represent this resource.
The Pokémon GO team states: “Trainers, we have big news coming your way. Or should we say, MEGA news? Stay tuned.”
This is what trainers see: The image of the announcement quickly circulated in the player community. Some noticed that the colors of the energy are not randomly chosen. Similar to candies, there is energy for special Pokémon.
In the shared image, players recognize the color patterns of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. They seem to be among the first Mega Evolutions that will be unlocked.
In June 2020, Pokémon GO officially announced the Mega Evolutions for the first time. Since then, there has been silence on this topic. Only through data miners did we know about:
However, data miners have now found even more info after the new tweet.
Data Mining: These Mega Pokémon are now in the code
This has been leaked: Shortly after the announcement, data miners rubbed their hands together, as there was an update for the game. The “assets” were updated—meaning the graphics of the Pokémon and content.
The data miners from PokeMiners have transferred the changes into a graphic and published it on reddit.
In the graphic, you can see that the assets for the following contents are now part of Pokémon GO, even if they are not yet accessible to players.
- Raid Egg for Megas
- Reward for winning a Mega Raid
- Mega Venusaur
- Mega Charizard X
- Mega Charizard Y
- Mega Blastoise
- Mega Beedrill
- Mega Pidgeot
New Info – Asset Update – Mega Pokemon added to the game! from r/TheSilphRoad
This is important: Keep in mind that this leaked info does not come officially from Niantic, but has been extracted from the code of Pokémon GO. It is unclear which of these found Mega Evolutions will find their way into the game first or if all will be released at once.
This will show in the coming days.
Another finding by the data miners shows a possible subscription service for Pokémon GO. What could happen there?
