Once again this year, there will be a joint challenge in Pokémon GO. As a reward, trainers are supposed to receive a Hyper Bonus. We have taken a look at what this is about and will show you the theories surrounding it.
What has happened? As Niantic officially announced, there will be a joint challenge for the Pokémon GO Fest 2021 (via pokemongolive.com). As in the previous year, all trainers who have a ticket for the GO Fest will work together to achieve various task goals over the course of the event.
These goals change hourly and unlock a special bonus for the remaining hour if the task is completed. But that was not all. If the trainers manage to solve 8, 16, or even 24 challenges, then an additional Hyper Bonus will be unlocked.
What to expect with the Hyper Bonus
You can earn the Hyper Bonus by collectively achieving the goals of 8, 16, or 24 solved tasks with all trainers participating in the GO Fest. Depending on how many challenges are solved, you will unlock the following Hyper Bonuses:
1. Hyper Bonus: Time: If you together solve 8 challenges, then the 1st Hyper Bonus will be unlocked for you. This revolves around the theme of time. From July 23, 2021, at 10:00 AM to August 3, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time, you will encounter Pokémon from different eras.
2. Hyper Bonus: Space: If you collectively complete 16 challenges, you will be rewarded with the 2nd Hyper Bonus. This will take place from August 6, 2021, at 10:00 AM to August 17, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time. During this event, everything revolves around the theme of space, which is why you will frequently encounter Pokémon from different locations.
3. Hyper Bonus: ???: If you manage to solve a total of 24 tasks together, then the 3rd Hyper Bonus will also be unlocked for you. This will occur from August 20, 2021, at 10:00 AM to August 31, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time. The focus of this Hyper Bonus and which Pokémon will be available for the event is still unknown.
Based on the previous themes of Hyper Bonuses 1 and 2, there are however various indications and theories regarding what the 3rd Hyper Bonus will be. Particularly about the legendary Pokémon, there is a heated discussion in social networks. We have looked into the theories surrounding this for you.
The Theories of the Community
Anyone familiar with the main series of Pokémon games will have instantly thought of the fourth generation with Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum in terms of space and time. Also, the themes of time and space play a central role in the Pokémon series and the related films. Films 10, 11, and 12 focus on the battle for space and time. Here, the Pokémon Palkia represents the ruler of space and the monster Dialga represents the ruler of time.
For this reason, the community assumes that the first Hyper Bonus will feature the legendary Pokémon Dialga in raids. Consequently, Palkia is expected to be present during the second Hyper Bonus. Both Pokémon have previously been available in the game.
Therefore, some users speculate that Niantic might introduce these in their shiny forms. A special attack could also be possible. The reddit user Kevsterific writes that he could imagine that the Shinies will be available now and the special attacks will come in November (via reddit.com).
Another reddit user, krispyboiz, would also welcome two new shiny variants in the game. However, he points out that both Pokémon are already sought-after monsters, which would receive a lot of attention in raids even without a shiny variant (via reddit.com).
Will Arceus appear in Pokémon GO?
For a long time, trainers of Pokémon GO have wished for the introduction of Arceus in the game. So far, this has never happened. However, the Hyper Bonus revolving around space and time gives the community a great incentive for speculation.
Besides Palkia and Dialga, Arceus also plays a central role in the films. It is considered the creator of the Pokémon world and can therefore assume all 18 types in the film. This legendary Pokémon could fit perfectly into the space-time theme of the last Hyper Bonus.
reddit users share this view. Therefore, trainerTITs310 is sure: “This has to lead to Arceus, it is the creator Pokémon, it created space and time, and all Pokémon that have been available in raids will be in raids during the GO Fest. It must culminate with Arceus.” (via reddit.com).
The user Dreiko3927 also agrees with this opinion and writes that the Hyper Bonus strongly hints at Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina and he hopes for Arceus (via reddit.com). The Twitter community also shares this assumption and hopes for the introduction of Arceus (via twitter.com).
Is the 3rd Hyper Bonus tied to the Distortion World?
Beside Arceus, there is another Pokémon that could be involved in the 3rd Hyper Bonus. This is Giratina. This monster represents the Distortion World in the film and could also thematically fit into the concepts of time and space.
Giratina has been catchable in the game for some time now and is also available as Shiny. If Niantic plans to introduce the shiny forms of Palkia and Dialga in connection with the Hyper Bonus, then there would probably be no updates for Giratina.
Therefore, some trainers, like the reddit user soojiboy, consider Giratina unlikely. He writes: “If they release the Shinies, the Distortion World wouldn’t make sense since the Shiny has already been released. Arceus, perhaps?” (via reddit.com).
