Golden Nanab Berries and Golden Pinap Berries might soon become an important part of Pokémon GO. Clues were found during data mining.
Since the latest arena update in Pokémon GO, trainers can use golden Razz Berries in the game and feed them to gym defenders or wild Pokémon. The difference from the regular Razz Berry is that the golden version has a stronger effect.
Now, golden Nanab Berries and Golden Pinap Berries have also been found in the code. This means the candies from Pokémon catches could be quadrupled!
Quadruple Candies from Golden Berries? A Dream for Trainers
During the last data mining for Pokémon GO version 0.67.1, a special change seems to have been overlooked. As PokémonGOHub reports, there are two new golden berries in the game’s code. There are currently no graphics for these berries that could provide insight into this possible change.
These new golden berries can only be released through a new update. It is not possible for Niantic to simply release them, as they are not yet in the game’s APK.
- The Golden Nanab Berry is called ITEM_GOLDEN_NANAB_BERRY in the code and has the ID 707
- The Golden Pinap Berry is called ITEM_GOLDEN_PINAP_BERRY in the code and has the ID 708
Effects of the Golden Berries in the Game
If these golden berries are implemented in the game, it would be a significant change for Pokémon GO. The recently introduced Golden Razz Berry has an enhanced effect compared to the regular variant.
A Golden Pinap Berry could completely change the way trainers play. Currently, the Pinap Berry provides double candies from a wild Pokémon that you catch. A golden variant could amplify the effect and therefore quadruple the candies.
If this change is adopted “as is“, you can look forward to many candies and collect them significantly faster. Here are the potential effects:
- A Dratini gives 3 candies when caught normally.
- With a Pinap Berry, there are 6 candies.
- With a Golden Pinap Berry, that would be 12 candies.
- With a Pinap Berry, there are 6 candies.
- A Dragonair gives 5 candies when caught normally.
- With a Pinap Berry, there are 10.
- With a Golden Pinap Berry, that would be 20.
- With a Pinap Berry, there are 10.
- A Dragonite normally gives 10 candies.
- With a Pinap Berry, that would be 20.
- With a Golden Pinap Berry, that would already be 40 candies.
- With a Pinap Berry, that would be 20.
It is also assumed that both new golden berries can fully restore motivation for gym defenders.
