In Pokémon GO new monsters have been discovered in the source code, raising hopes for a release of Cosmovum, Bubungus, and Lamellux. At the same time, the graphics are causing quite a discussion within the community. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at what it’s all about.
What findings are we talking about? The Pokéminers, a group of dataminers, regularly search through the source code of the game to find out which monsters and features are planned next. They then publish these findings, making them available to other players.
In their latest search, they came across the graphics of new Pokémon that could potentially be coming to the game soon. We have summarized for you which ones they are and what the trainers think about them below.
These 7 monsters have been found
As reddit user redwineandbeer states in his current post, the Pokéminers have discovered 7 new monsters and their respective shiny variants in the source code. This includes Cosmovum, Bubungus, Lamellux, as well as four different costumed Pikachu.
What are Cosmovum, Bubungus & Lamellux?
Cosmovum: Cosmovum is the first evolution of the legendary Psychic Pokémon Cosmog, which you can catch as part of the special research “A Cosmic Companion” for the Season of Light.
And also Cosmovum’s evolutions Solgaleo and Lunala were already part of the Pokéminers’ findings in the past. Furthermore, Niantic teased a release of the Psychic Pokémon with a video for the Season of Light on August 28, 2022.
In the displayed constellation, the outline of Cosmovum could be recognized. Therefore, it is conceivable that you may not have to wait too long for its debut.

Bubungus and Lamellux: Bubungus is a Grass and Fairy Pokémon from the 7th generation of games, which can evolve into Lamellux. You can recognize the monster by its white body, which visually resembles a mushroom. Lamellux also resembles a mushroom with its purple hat and thin white body.
Trainers are divided over the findings
Excitement for Cosmovum: Within the community, the findings of the Pokéminers are met with mixed reactions. Many trainers are particularly excited about the potential addition of Cosmovum. The shiny variant especially catches their eye.
Many are enthusiastic about it and hope for a corresponding release. FireLordObamaOG writes (via reddit.com): “Maybe we will also get shiny Cosmog and Cosmovum in GO.”
Mixed opinions on Bubungus and Lamellux: The situation is different for Bubungus and Lamellux. While some trainers are excited about the possibility of new monsters and find them very cute, others are disappointed with the selection.
This is mainly because the two monsters are expected to rely on the fast move Astonish, which is not particularly good. This makes it uninteresting for many. User JRE47 writes (via reddit.com): “Bubungus and Lamellux are stuck with the fast move Astonish, so … no further analysis needed unfortunately.”
Criticism of Pikachu: However, the biggest criticism of the new monsters is directed at Pikachu. Notably, the findings indicate that similar costumes already exist in the game. A Pikachu with balloons was found only in May of this year, for example.
Similarly, Pikachu with a similar shirt has already been caught in a regional event in Japan. In this case, Niantic mainly changed the colors of the accessories for the Electric Pokémon.
Furthermore, there are already numerous costumed Pikachu in the game, which limits the excitement about new shirts and hats for the yellow mouse. This can be seen in the comments (via reddit.com):

The release for the Pikachu with the green shirt is also already known. From October 21 to October 23, 2022, a Safari Zone will take place in Taipei, where this Pikachu is expected to be one of the spawns.
Even though the Pokéminers have often been right in their predictions in the past, these data are not official information. Thus, Niantic can still adjust these contents or even completely forgo a release. Whether and when the other monsters will come to the game remains to be seen for now.
