In Pokémon GO hints of three new legendary Pokémon have been found that are creating a lot of excitement among trainers. We at MeinMMO have looked into what these findings are and show you the community’s reactions.
What findings are we talking about? Just a few days ago, there were hints of new Pokémon from the 8th game generation and a new special ball, and the Pokéminers have made another interesting discovery.
This suggests that there will soon be even more new Pokémon from the 8th generation in the game. We have summarized below which ones are likely to be.
The Pokéminers are a group of data miners. They regularly search the game code of Pokémon GO and try to find new upcoming content and changes. They then make this data publicly available to other players.
The predictions of the Pokéminers have been relatively reliable in the past, and much of it has indeed been implemented in the game. However, this type of data is not official information, which is why Niantic can still adjust and change this content or even decide against a release.
These are the findings on the legendary Galar Pokémon
As martycochrane shows in his current reddit post, the Pokéminers have made a new discovery in the game code. In addition to the image material for the three new Ultra Beasts and the Snorlax with cowboy hat, which are debuting at the live events surrounding the GO Fest, three more images have been discovered.
As you can see in the graphic below, these are the legendary Galar Pokémon Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
What kind of Pokémon are these? Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are the legendary birds from the Kanto region. With the introduction of the 8th game generation, all three monsters have received an additional Galar form.
Visually, the differences are easy to spot. Particularly Zapdos has much more pronounced plumage in its Galar form than in its Kanto form. Additionally, their bodies are colored differently in the Galar region. For comparison, we have embedded an image of the three legendary birds from the Kanto region below:
The Galar monsters are not only visually different from the birds of the Kanto region but also differ in their types:
| Pokémon | Kanto Form | Galar Form |
| Articuno | Ice Flying | Psychic Flying |
| Zapdos | Electric Flying | Fighting Flying |
| Moltres | Fire Flying | Dark Flying |
“Hopefully, they will be released soon”
The trainers in the reddit community are excited about these findings. They look forward to finally being able to catch the three legendary Galar Pokémon and are already speculating on when the monsters might appear in the game (via reddit.com):
- Dracarys1988: “I love all 3 Galar birds. Hopefully, they will be released soon”
- ekromFPS: “Maybe the legendary Galar birds will be the most important hyper bonus unlocked after each GO Fest.”
- repo_sado: “Maybe just part of the hyper bonus. The first hyper bonus was much better than the release of a new legendary.”
- edwinodresseiron: “Do the shinys of the Galar birds have the colors of their Kanto counterparts? That’s cool, I didn’t know that! Also: How heavy will Galar-Moltres approximately be? I need a bunch of XL candies for my shiny-Moltres, so I’ve been waiting for it to appear in raids anyway.”
- orhan94: “Moltres and Articuno will be harder since they both lose a double weakness. Zapdos might be easier since the top psychic attacker is offensively much stronger than the top rock or ice attackers, I think.”
Is a timely release plausible? In principle, it would be plausible that the Galar forms of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are indeed part of the hyper bonuses. In recent years, these bonuses have been obtainable during the global GO Fest and ultimately granted you encounters with new legendary Pokémon.
For example, Zacian and Zamazenta debuted in this context in 2021. The hyper bonus was changed in 2022 and you can now earn it piece by piece at the various events surrounding the GO Fest to enhance subsequent events. However, what specific rewards you can expect is still not known.
Thus, after reaching the hyper bonus, the GO Fest in Berlin will be enhanced for the upcoming birthday event. A release of the legendary Pokémon at the closing event of the GO Fest on August 27 would also be possible.
Whether and when it will actually happen, and you will finally be able to catch the legendary Galar birds remains to be seen. If there is new information about this, you will find out here on MeinMMO.
What do you think of the findings regarding the 3 legendary Galar birds? Do you hope that Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will come into the game in this form soon? Or would you prefer to see other Pokémon released first? Feel free to leave your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange views with other trainers.
Those participating in the live events for the GO Fest can look forward to another highlight. Content creators like Spieletrend and Trainer Tips will be coming to Berlin for the GO Fest. We have looked into when you can meet them.
