Together with the release of the Let’s-GO games, Niantic announced an event in Pokémon GO focused on Kanto Pokémon.
The Japanese Twitter account of Pokémon GO announced an event centered around the release of Let’s GO, Pikachu and Let’s GO, Evoli. The two games will be released on November 16 and can be played in conjunction with Pokémon GO.
Pokémon caught in Pokémon GO can then be sent to the Let’s-GO games to earn candies. The release of the games is said to be celebrated with an event.
What did Pokémon GO announce?
So far, only the Japanese Twitter account of Pokémon GO has reported about this event. In their tweet, they mentioned an event that is supposed to celebrate the release of the Let’s-GO games.
Pikachu & Evoli: In the tweet, they mentioned that especially Pikachu and Evoli should appear more frequently during the event. These two Pokémon are the titular figures of the Let’s-GO games. It might be possible to catch these two Pokémon in special forms or with accessories like hats. However, this is currently speculation.
Increased Kanto spawns: In addition to Pikachu and Evoli, other Pokémon from the Kanto region are expected to appear. The Pokémon from the first generation are also the ones that can be caught in the Let’s-GO games. Other generations cannot be caught in the games so far.
No start time known: So far, Niantic has not provided a specific start time for the event. It may possibly start with the release of the games on November 16.
Community Reactions
On Twitter, players’ opinions are divided. Some see the event as an opportunity for new Pokémon, while others complain about yet another Kanto event.
The user “Sonbda2” believes: I suspect more spawns of Evoli could also unlock the Evoli evolutions of the fourth generation. Possibly also other evolutions like Magbrant or Elevoltek”
Twitter user “Styletix” writes ironically: “More Kanto spawns? How original!”
Indeed, we had a Kanto Pokémon event just in September and another event with these Pokémon is not very varied.
What do you think of the Kanto event?
