In Pokémon GO, there is supposed to be a new monster soon, but trainers are not at all thrilled about it. We at MeinMMO will show you which Pokémon it is and what the community finds bothersome about the release.
Which release is it about? In Pokémon GO, the Horizonte event will take place in a few days, themed around the TV series Pokémon Horizons
. It will focus entirely on the Paldea region. For this reason, you will also encounter the fire Pokémon Knarbon for the first time.
While new Pokémon are usually particularly popular with trainers, many players are already annoyed by Knarbon. We will explain below why this is the case.
Trainers annoyed by the way the Pokémon debuts
What bothers trainers about the release? The Horizonte event, starting on March 5th, is all about the Paldea region and the main characters of the Pokémon Horizons
series. One of the highlights is the release of Knarbon. However, instead of being able to find it in the wild or in raids, trainers have to hatch a vast number of eggs. And that is what many find frustrating.
What is so bad about the egg debut? Knarbon is not the first Pokémon to enter the game this way. Before it, other interesting monsters like Ignivor, Knattox, or Frospino were packed into eggs and are currently only available this way. However, history shows that the chances of obtaining one are relatively low.
This is because there are still numerous other Pokémon in the eggs. Furthermore, Knarbon can only be found in the smaller 2- and 5-km eggs during the event; afterwards, it will only be obtainable from 10-km eggs. The chances then become even lower. You can read how bad they were for Ignivor in this article:
What does this mean for trainers? Anyone wanting to secure a Knarbon for their collection early on or even evolve it into Crimanzo or Azugladis later must hatch plenty of eggs – also to gather enough candies. For many players, this means they will inevitably purchase additional paid incubators to supplement their free ones.
For this reason, you can already find a lot of annoyed comments in the Reddit community:
- plastic_vader:
And another new Pokémon locked in eggs …. But we expected this. New Pokémon in Pokémon GO? They will be locked in eggs or raids.
- Salsadips:
Raids are fine by me. Anyone can get a raid release for free from day one. With egg releases, it’s just ‘spend a boatload of coins and you still probably won’t get one’.
- thedeadsigh:
I can hardly wait to not give them money for incubators.
And MeinMMO reader AndyHer also wrote to us in the comments: Too bad, hatching again. First Ignivor after about 120 eggs, Knattox after about 10-12 eggs (5 of which during the event). Pokémon GO is only partially enjoyable this way. In this case, you need three Pokémon to have a complete collection.
What kind of Pokémon is Knarbon?
This is Knarbon: Knarbon is a fire Pokémon from the 9th generation of games. You will recognize it by its black armor from which red and yellow flames burst out. It can evolve into Crimanzo or Azugladis. In Pokémon GO, you need to take it as a buddy and battle against 30 psychic or 30 ghost Pokémon to do so.

Can it be obtained as a shiny? No, at the moment Knarbon is not available in its shiny form in the game. If it ever becomes available, you will recognize it by its blue eyes.
What is your opinion on the release of the new Pokémon? Do you also find it annoying that it is hidden behind eggs? Or do you even particularly like this feature? Feel free to let us know here at MeinMMO in the comments and discuss it with other trainers.
In March, not only will the Horizonte event take place, but a new season will also start. We will show you the first info about the new season World full of wonders
