The new tracker for Pokémon GO is currently being tested in various regions around the world. Recently, this area was expanded so that even more trainers can participate in the testing phase of the new tracker. Germany still has to wait. Playing Pokémon GO in rural areas
The new tracker for Pokémon GO is supposed to bring some improvements to the game. The current system for tracking Pokémon is inaccurate and many players complain about it. They do not want to walk aimlessly through the streets hoping to stumble across a Pokémon. They wish for the features of the original tracker back, which indicated a certain distance with footprints.
However, the features of the original tracker have caused server problems, which is why a tracker in this form cannot exist again. Niantic is currently testing a completely new tracking feature for Pokémon GO. With this, players can see which Pokémon are at PokéStops in the vicinity.
While players do not see the exact location of the wild Pokémon, they can identify from the images, “Aha, this Pikachu is near the church.” Consequently, they at least have a rough search area where the Pokémon is located. With this new feature, a large part of the community is helped; however, this mostly benefits trainers who live in a city or near a city.
Currently, the new tracker only has the function to see Pokémon that are near a PokéStop. Trainers in rural areas have a problem with this, as often there are very few PokéStops in the vicinity that can be easily reached on foot. To reach more stops, one often has to drive to the next village. Accordingly, the display for wild Pokémon is quite empty for players in rural areas.
Many players have long wished for more PokéStops in rural areas. However, with the new tracker, additional PokéStops become even more important. The tracker displays wild Pokémon near PokéStops. If there is no PokéStop nearby, this display is accordingly empty.
Hopefully, Niantic will reconsider the feature for rural areas and come up with a solution for it.
