Good news! Anyone still looking for Ditto in Pokémon GO can now do so with another Pokémon encounter. Trainers report that Toxiped is now appearing disguised as Ditto.
What was discovered? On Reddit , user RescuePenguin reports that he caught a Toxiped in Pokémon GO that then transformed into a Ditto. He couldn’t provide video evidence, but other users are writing in the comments that this would explain where their new Dittos are coming from.
A Shiny Ditto has already been found by dataminers, but it is not currently active in Pokémon GO.
Why is this good? For tasks in Pokémon GO, you need to find this shapeshifter. However, since you don’t find it in its actual form in the wild, but only disguised as another Pokémon, it’s hard to catch a Ditto. It takes a lot of luck to catch a Toxiped or Samurzel that then eventually transforms into the slimy, purple shapeshifter after the catch.
So if you’re still stuck at step 3 of the Meltan special research, you should definitely catch every Toxiped in the wild now. This increases the chances of encountering Ditto.

Players express their wishes to Niantic: A comment from player justplainjay on Reddit has received many upvotes. He expresses a wish to the developers.
I really wish Niantic would release this information. This sub [the Reddit forum] will (understandably) ask for proof. This would only be possible if someone films every single encounter with Toxiped or plays with someone else. Not that these options are too difficult, but it would be easier if they [Niantic] released this data.
However, not all players agree with this. Reddit user Dave5104 thinks that Niantic should provide more information in many areas, but not about Ditto. It “feels weird” when Niantic always tells you where to expect Ditto.
