The president of The Pokémon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara says that more features can be expected soon for Pokémon GO. However, it will still take some time before these features are implemented in the game.
In Pokémon GO, there are several features that fans wish to see in the game. This includes a PvP feature that allows players to challenge other trainers to battles. Additionally, many trainers wish for a trading feature to exchange captured Pokémon with their friends. John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, has already confirmed that the desired features are certainly conceivable in the future. Now, the president of The Pokémon Company has also spoken out.
Too many features complicate the entry into Pokémon GO
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Tsunekazu Ishihara explained that care should be taken with features that could complicate the entry path for beginners. While the two mentioned features are intended for the future, both Niantic and The Pokémon Company do not want to overwhelm beginners with too many features.
Pokémon GO is quite beginner-friendly with its current features. Casual players do not have too many functions that could overwhelm them. Whether a trading or battle feature would make the game too difficult for beginners is questionable. We are curious to see how the developers will handle this challenge. Presumably, the trading system would be the simpler feature that even beginners would not have major problems with.
In PvP battles, it can happen that they overwhelm a beginner. After all, it involves different Pokémon types with varying attacks. Depending on the type and attack, these are more or less effective and consequently deal more or less damage. As a voluntary option that must be manually activated, it would likely be a considerate measure for beginners. They would use this feature only after they have become more familiar with the game. Trainers who already have more “Pokémon GO” experience could then activate this feature and duel with other experienced trainers.
