A new feature will soon make it easier for trainers to catch rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
Catching rare Pokémon is not always easy, as finding these monsters is a challenge in itself. Once you find a rare Pokémon, you still have to catch it. You hope that the corresponding PokéBall does everything right and stays closed. If a rare Pokémon escapes after it has “actually” been in the PokéBall but then freed itself, frustration is guaranteed. With a new feature in Pokémon GO, the catch chance for certain Pokémon types will soon be increased.
Higher chance of catching rare Pokémon
On the official “Pokémon GO” website, a feature has now been announced that gives you a catch bonus for Pokémon-related medals. These medals have names like Hothead, Psychic, and Gardener, and are associated with certain Pokémon types. So if you reach a higher rank of your Hothead medal, your chance of catching fire-type Pokémon like Charmander, Vulpix, Ponyta, or other Pokémon of the “Fire” type increases.
But how do you raise the rank of a medal? You can increase the rank of a medal by catching Pokémon of a specific type. So if you catch a lot of plant-type Pokémon, the rank of the corresponding medal increases.
For Pokémon with 2 types, the average of your bonuses for these types is used. For example, Pidgey has the types Normal and Flying. The catch bonus for this Pokémon would be the average of your bonuses for Normal and Flying type. So if you catch a lot of Pidgey, this bonus is valid not only for other Pidgey but also for other Pokémon with Normal and/or Flying type.
When this feature will be released has not yet been announced by developer Niantic. We will keep you updated on this.
