For a few hours now, there are new rewards in Pokémon GO raids. The larger selection has been requested by many trainers.
When raids were activated in Pokémon GO, fans were excited about the new co-op feature where they can defeat powerful bosses together with other players. For defeating the raid monsters, there are rewards that previously consisted of Revives, Rare Candies, and TMs.
Since last night, there are additional rewards for completing a raid in Pokémon GO.
Now there are potions for raids!
On Reddit, trainers pointed out around 02:00 AM (August 17) that they are receiving new items as rewards for raids. Now there are potions, Super Potions, Hyper Potions, and also Max Potions as gifts after the boss battles.
This small change is already being celebrated by many trainers on social media. When raids were first introduced in the game, players questioned the reward system that provided them with Revives instead of potions. Since Revives only restore 50% of a Pokémon’s health, it was often a problem for raid-goers to fully heal their fighters.
Are Revives still available?
It is currently unclear how the potions are distributed. In trainers’ reports, it seems rather random whether potions, Super Potions, Hyper Potions, or Max Potions are given out. Furthermore, you don’t have to completely forego Revives. They can still be distributed.
So far, the feedback on the potion rewards has been positive. Trainers hope that Niantic has found the right balance between potions and Revives and that one of them won’t suddenly be distributed significantly more often. According to the first reports, this seems to be working. On Reddit, user lizbliz04 writes, “I got 4 Super Potions and 6 Hyper Potions in one raid, but no Revives. In the next raid, there were 10 Revives, but no potions.”
