Good news for Pokémon GO players: You can now find more gyms and stops in Pokémon GO – maybe even in your area.
This summer is apparently going to be really exciting for Pokémon GO players. The announced gym update with raid bosses and co-op battles has brought a lot of joy to the trainers. But there is more good news: Players have noticed that many PokéStops have been converted into gyms and that there are generally more stops and gyms (even in rural areas).
More gyms and more stops
The gym update in Pokémon GO makes some changes to the gym system in the game. You will then be able to spin the photo disc of a gym and also find items there. Additionally, there will soon be six permanent slots for Pokémon that can be occupied by the controlling team.
Before the update, you could accommodate up to ten Pokémon in a gym. Therefore, four slots would be lost due to the update. Niantic seems to have taken this issue into account and has quickly integrated new gyms and stops into the game. In our Pokémon GO Facebook group, some trainers have already noticed the changes.
In some cases, former stops have now become gyms. This continues to provide opportunities to loot items and also more space for monsters that want to enter a gym.
More stops and gyms in rural areas
This good news also applies to players in rural areas. Trainers in rural regions are excited on social media about now having more stops or gyms in their vicinity.
On Reddit, user CanyonWrn writes that he finds two new gyms and a new PokéStop in his area. As a trainer in a very rural area, this is great news for him.
The integration of the new gyms is apparently not yet complete and is still being carried out. If you don’t see any changes yet, it might take a bit longer in your location. Keep an eye on your surroundings as you go on new adventures and watch for changed stops and gyms.
Additional spawn points added
In addition to the gyms and stops, there are also new spawn points in the game. These are the locations where wild Pokémon appear on the map. Many trainers report that these points have shifted or that new ones have been added.
Pay attention during your next hunt to whether Pokémon now appear in places where they weren’t before.
