The monster of the next Community Day has been hinted at in Pokémon GO. The community has an interesting criticism regarding this.
What kind of event is this? A Community Day is an event where a Pokémon takes center stage and appears in very high numbers with an increased shiny chance. Additionally, there are some strong bonuses in the event such as extra candies or exclusive moves.
The monster of the next Community Day, which will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, has now been hinted at. Trainers from the community immediately recognized the monster and pointed out a particular criticism.
Wrong monster at the wrong time of year
What kind of Pokémon is this? In a short video on X, the silhouette of the monster was hinted at. Based on this, trainers quickly identified the Pokémon as Gelatini.
Gelatini is an ice-type Pokémon and originates from the 5th generation. It can evolve into Gelatroppo and then into Gelatwino. The appearance of the monster is very similar to that of a filled ice cream cup. And this is exactly where the community’s criticism lies.
How strong is the Pokémon? Gelatini and its evolutions are neither among the best Pokémon for the battle league nor among the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO for raids. Usually, monsters receive an exclusive move on a Community Day, making some specimens significantly stronger.
Whether this will also be the case for Gelatini and whether its, from a combat perspective, insignificant role will be strengthened remains to be seen as soon as there is more concrete information on this.
What is the community criticizing? While some trainers in the community are excited about the Pokémon, there are also critical voices. On one hand, the monster itself is criticized, and on the other hand, the timing of the event.
Some of the critical comments are:
- “This is really terrible. How is it that Community Days are becoming increasingly unnecessary?” writes T.C on X
- “Ice cone? Is there even a move that can make this thing useful?” asks Adam Droge on X
- “Gelatini is teased for a Community Day in spring. Typical Niantic lmao,” says Aether13 on Reddit
- “It makes little sense and feels out of place. Either way, it’s a Pokémon and I’ll enjoy catching it,” notes I_Regret_Nothing on Reddit
- “Autumn doesn’t really fit either. Summer or winter would have been good,” responds coldfirephoenix on Reddit to a comment noting that autumn is currently in some parts of the world
A few days remain until the Community Day next month. Even though the current month is coming to an end, there are still some events and content waiting for you in the game, which you can participate in. What they are can be seen in our overview of all events in March 2025 in Pokémon GO.
