In Pokémon GO there was a really strong, new box in the shop. The problem: Shortly after release, it was gone again.
What was that for a box? On Monday, March 20, two new “Boost boxes” landed in the Pokémon GO shop. Especially one of them represented an unusually good deal.
For 399 coins you got:
- 5 Super Incubators
- 5 Premium Raid Passes
- An Item Bag Expansion
- A Pokémon Storage Expansion
These were strong items worth 1900 coins at a significantly reduced price. No wonder, then, that trainers celebrated the box, because really good offers in the shop are rare, which in the past led to criticism of the boxes.
But not long after release, the joy was gone again – because the box was too.
New box available for only a few hours – Trainers missed out on cheap items
Box removed: Just under 7 hours after the release of the Boost box, the data miners from Pokeminers reported on Twitter: “The boxes were taken off the offer again.” And trainers who checked the shop afterwards found that the box was no longer available.
Why the boxes were removed again is currently unclear, as there was also no announcement at the release whether it was a limited-time offer.
In the Pokémon GO subreddit, however, some trainers express frustration about the box. Because they would have liked to take advantage of the offer, but missed the chance due to the short time frame.
Some suspect that the original strong price might have been a mistake – especially because the second, weaker box had the same price:
- “Oh man, I would have had the coins ready by Friday. It was very unlikely, but I hoped they would be available by then,” says one trainer (via reddit).
- “I am very upset that they were removed. I definitely wanted one and would have spent Pokecoins for it, only to see that the box is no longer available” (via reddit).
- “I thought this was too good to be true, so I spent the coins on it. That was the first time in a long time that I thought: ‘Wow, this is a very good box’,” says a user (via reddit): “I immediately thought it must be a mistake, so I bought it.”
- “Interesting… It seems like people were right who thought this was too good to be true!” (via reddit).
- “They must have run out of incubators,” jokes one (via reddit).
Overall, it is criticized that the box was removed so quickly – this creates a feeling of missing out if you are not quick enough, some comment.
