Meowth – The biggest enemy of Ash and Pikachu?
Since the first season of the Pokémon anime, Meowth and Team Rocket have been the great enemies of Ash on his journey through the Kanto region. The mean trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth repeatedly tried to make life difficult for the hero of our childhood.
That was Team Rocket’s goal: In almost every episode of the anime, Team Rocket wanted to capture Ash’s Pikachu and then hand it over to their boss.
However, they never really acted smart. In the end, Ash and his friends always defeated the trio and literally sent them flying.
That was the team’s most famous line: When Team Rocket was defeated, they usually flew in a high arc through the air and bid farewell with the line “That was a shot in the oven again!”
A line that many children have heard hundreds of times.
Why Meowth can speak
The Meowth from Team Rocket has a special ability: It can speak. The story behind it is a sad one.
In the anime, it is said that Meowth lived in Hollywood and searched for food on the street with a pack of Meowth, stealing the food as well.
One day, Meowth met a female Meowth named Meowsy. It immediately fell in love with Meowsy but had to endure a clear rejection. Meowsy is a well-groomed Pokémon that does not live on the street. It feels drawn to humans.
That’s why Meowth learned to speak: In order to win Meowsy’s heart, Meowth learned to walk upright and also to speak. As a result, it became weaker in battle on the street, but continued to work hard to win Meowsy for itself.
With its new skills, Meowth approached Meowsy again. She again rejected him, as he now looked like a freak and no longer like a Pokémon. Out of all the sadness, Meowth fled from Hollywood and joined Team Rocket because one of its first words it could say was “Rocket”.
Meowth in Pokémon GO
In Pokémon GO, Meowth does not play a major role. Its evolution, Snorlax, is also not really useful in the game. The stats of both Pokémon are rather average, and with 1689 CP, Snorlax cannot become very strong.
From the 7 km eggs, you can also get the Alolan form of Meowth. This Pokémon is not very popular as loot from the eggs.
Here Snorlax could shine: Possibly, Meowth’s evolution, Snorlax, could become interesting in the new battle mode PvP. There is a league with Pokémon that can have a maximum of 1500 CP. A Snorlax could fit in well there.
Team Rocket in Pokémon GO? A wish many players have is to implement Team Rocket in Pokémon GO. Possibly, the new battle mode also allows NPCs like Team Rocket to be challenged. Fans would be delighted.
Maybe Meowth can then also talk. So far, this Normal-type Pokémon can neither speak nor battle well.
Why can’t Meowth talk in Pokémon GO? No Pokémon can talk in Pokémon GO. Only in the series can Team Rocket’s Meowth and some other Pokémon speak. In Pokémon GO, there are only the “normal” Pokémon, which cannot talk.
If Meowth does not become more interesting in the new PvP mode, then it will probably remain a loser, just like in the anime. That was probably a shot in the oven.
