With the start of week 3 of the Ultra Bonus in Pokémon GO, there are also some changes to raids. Mewtwo has been made significantly stronger.
This is how the changes affect you: Many players who are part of small communities will likely be frustrated. Mewtwo was manageable with three players, but now it is almost unbeatable in a trio.
Additionally, you will need to make some changes to raid planning, as the timers have changed again.
These 3 changes are present in week 3
Mewtwo is now this strong: Since Niantic has increased the stats of the Psychic Pokémon, it is now significantly stronger in raids. It now takes 4 solid players to defeat Mewtwo.
This is a significant improvement for Mewtwo, as up until now, 3 players at level 25 were enough to take down Mewtwo.
The changes have no impact on the captured Mewtwo. It will not be stronger for you in battle.
There are still no changes to the counters. Some of the new Gen 5 Pokémon are also good counters against Mewtwo, but your current battle team is still just as effective.
This is changing with the raid times: After the raid timer was increased to 90 minutes for Deoxys, there is now a change again. Everything is back to normal. A raid lasts for 45 minutes and the egg is on the gym for one hour beforehand.
This is likely because currently only Mewtwo is hatching from the 5-star raids. Previously, all 4 forms of Deoxys were in the raids and some trainers only wanted specific forms. This made planning easier.
This is what you need to know about the new move: Mewtwo now also has the move Psystrike. However, this charged move cannot be learned via TMs. You cannot teach the move to old Mewtwo.
In Pokémon GO there are now these 3 Shinies:
