Today, on January 7, 2022, the new event “Mountains of Power” started in Pokémon GO, bringing you numerous monsters and bonuses as well as a limited-time research. We have looked at the tasks and rewards for you.
What kind of event is it? The “Mountains of Power” event continues the story around the mysterious door that Professor Willow discovered at the beginning of the season. You will mainly encounter Rock and Steel Pokémon. Of course, there is also a limited-time research.
When does the event take place? The “Mountains of Power” event started today, January 7, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time. It will end on January 13, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.

What is a limited-time research? A limited-time research is a type of special research that you can only access and complete for a limited period. Unlike what you are used to from other research in Pokémon GO, you cannot work on these indefinitely.
The tasks are available to all trainers in their “Today” view, which can be opened by clicking on the binoculars in the map view. There you will find a total of two task blocks with three tasks each during the “Mountains of Power” event. We have summarized them for you below.
By when do you need to complete the tasks? You have the entire event to complete the tasks. But beware: You must also have redeemed all rewards from these quests by January 13, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time, otherwise, they will be lost after the deadline.

Stage reward: Once you have completed all tasks, you will also receive 2,000 Stardust, 10 Hyper Balls, and an encounter with Flunkifer.
Is the limited-time research worth it for the “Mountains of Power” event?
The tasks should generally be relatively quick to complete. It becomes particularly interesting for shiny hunters, as all monsters can also be found in their shiny form in the game.
Shiny Snorunt celebrates its debut at the “Mountains of Power” event. But Flunkifer could also be interesting for some trainers because this monster is normally only available as a reward from Team GO Rocket battles.
While Flunkifer is not particularly strong and does not belong to the best attackers in Pokémon GO, it is one of the few chances to hopefully encounter a shiny specimen.
Additionally, Absol and Steelix, the evolution of Onix, are also available in their Mega form in the game. So it’s worth catching a strong specimen.
