Starting today, September 6th, the Psychic Spectacular is underway in Pokémon GO with limited research and 4 new quests. We at MeinMMO have looked at what tasks and rewards lie behind it and show you if the content is worth it.
What tasks are involved? Starting today, September 6th, 2022, the Psychic Spectacular is taking place in Pokémon GO. In this context, a corresponding limited research and new field research must not be missing.
We have summarized for you below what tasks you can expect, what rewards are available, and how long you have to complete them.
When does the Psychic Spectacular run? The Psychic Spectacular starts on September 6th, 2022 at 10:00 AM local time and ends on September 12th, 2022 at 8:00 PM local time.
The limited research on the Psychic Spectacular
What kind of research is this? Just in time for the start of this year’s Psychic Spectacular, you will find a new limited research in the “Today” view of your game. This includes a table with 8 different tasks.
As Niantic previously announced on the Pokémon GO blog, it will be about Curveball throws. You need to land a whole lot of them to complete it.
How long is it active? You have time for this until the end of the event, which is September 12th at 8:00 PM local time. Don’t forget to collect your rewards by then, as they will otherwise expire after the research ends.

Stage reward: If you have completed all the tasks on this table and collected your rewards, you will also receive 30 Pokéballs, 10 Ultra Balls, and another encounter with Pygraulon*.
All new quests for the Psychic Spectacular
What are these quests? In addition to limited research, you can also secure four different event field researches at the PokéStops during the Psychic Spectacular.
How do you get the tasks? As with the September field research, you will receive these by spinning the photo disc at your PokéStops. You can find the tasks in the “Field” view of the game, which you can open by clicking on the binoculars.
Using the note “Event” below each task, you can distinguish the quests from the regular research. You have unlimited time to complete them as usual.

Are the researches for the Psychic Event worth it?
Pygraulon: As can be easily seen from the rewards, Niantic has particularly focused on the Psychic Pokémon Pygraulon in the limited research. The monster from the 5th generation can evolve into Megalon.
However, the two Pokémon are not particularly strong, which is why they do not play a major role in raids or the GO Battle League. However, this monster is of interest to all shiny hunters. For the first time, shiny Pygraulon will be available to catch in-game.
So, those who want to secure a specimen will have additional chances through the limited research and the corresponding event quests. You can recognize shiny Pygraulon mainly by its pink eyes. Its rest of the body is also somewhat darker than usual.
Palimpalim: With a slightly more challenging task than with Pygraulon, you can secure the Psychic Pokémon Palimpalim by throwing 5 Curveballs in a row. This Pokémon has no evolution. Just like Pygraulon, Palimpalim is not particularly strong and thus rather uninteresting for raids and PvP battles.
Thus, the shiny variant is particularly noteworthy for this monster. Unlike Pygraulon, it has been available in the game for a bit longer. If you still lack a shiny, you can try your luck through the quests. Otherwise, this Pokémon is not a “must-have” in the game.
Puppance: You can secure the ground and psychic Pokémon Puppance from the 3rd generation with what feels like the easiest task of these event quests. You only have to spin a photo disc 5 times. By the way, it can also be the same one, so this quest is easy to complete even in areas with few PokéStops.
With 50 candies, you can evolve Puppance into Lepumentas. These two monsters are also not particularly strong, but Puppance can also be found in its shiny form in the game.
This makes the Pokémon especially interesting for shiny hunters. Since the task is quick and easy to complete, you should definitely try your luck if you want to secure a shiny specimen.
Hypno: Hypno is the evolution of Traumato. However, this monster can only be found in its pre-evolution as shiny, so you will not have a chance to encounter shiny Hypno. If you are still missing this Pokémon, you should rather look for Traumato in the wild during the Psychic Spectacular.
The psychic Pokémon from the first generation also does not impress with its stats in attack, stamina, and defense. Therefore, it is not interesting for use in raids and the GO Battle League. Here, you should rather rely on the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
