Legendary raids in Pokémon GO are currently being tested by Niantic. These test raids are taking place in San Francisco.
Many Pokémon GO trainers around the world have been waiting for months for Niantic to explain how and when the legendary Pokémon will appear in the game. One method is the legendary raids that are currently being tested in America.
Apparently, these raids are also getting closer for regular trainers as they are already being displayed in the game.
Tier Level 5 Raids – Tests Underway
The legendary raids in Pokémon GO (Tier 5) are being tested in San Francisco. However, only Niantic employees can participate – “normal” players are excluded from these events. However, the confidentiality of these special raids is not working very well, as screenshots of the raid display have once again been circulated.
As reported by PokémonGOHub, the raid intervals are very short, making it difficult to see the events. So far, two Reddit users have managed to capture the discoveries in screenshots.
The first encounter showed Reddit user Scooby1222 about 2 weeks ago. In the screenshot, you can see two raids. The “test” raid uses a placeholder icon and is displayed with level 5 difficulty. Level 5 indicates raid battles against legendary Pokémon. So far, we have only four difficulty levels in the game, which we explain here.
The bright white head symbols are hardly visible in the original image. In the version with higher contrast values, the tier 5 raid is clearly recognizable:
Another legendary sighting was made by Reddit user flipdrago a few hours ago. This screenshot also shows a test raid. The five heads indicating the difficulty are once again visible at higher contrast:
The tests do not take place at specific times but seem randomly set. So far, these test raids have only been found in the coastal region of San Francisco, where a US branch of Niantic is also located. The reason why the raids are taking place there is therefore clear.
Why trainers can see these raids on their smartphones is unclear. Because we cannot participate yet. It is possible that Niantic is preparing us for the legendary battles through these leaks, or the team simply made a mistake while programming.
This means that Niantic is actively working on the legendary Pokémon battles and is preparing Pokémon GO for the special encounters.
