The next events in Pokémon GO are likely just around the corner. Dataminers have found quests intended for Valentine’s Day and a Sinnoh event.
What exactly was found? Five field researches for each event are believed to come into the game with the start of the respective event, as discovered by dataminers in the code of Pokémon GO.
This reveals how things might progress in Pokémon GO. After all, the event surrounding the Lunar New Year ends next week, and Niantic seems to be gearing up to follow up immediately.
This is what the quests for the upcoming events look like
The quest for Valentine’s Day: The event surrounding Valentine’s Day has been popular in recent years. It seems to be returning in 2020 and brings the following field researches:
- Catch X Surskit or Flurmel
- Catch X Luvdisc
- Evolve a Budew
- Hatch X Eggs
- Defeat X Team GO Rocket Grunts
What do these quests tell us? If these tasks come to pass, then we can expect to see more Flurmel, Surskit, and Budew in the wild. This makes sense, as pink Pokémon have always appeared more frequently on Valentine’s Day.
We can only speculate about a potential new shiny. Surskit, Flurmel, and Budew are all good candidates. After all, they don’t have a special version yet.
The quests for the Sinnoh event: An event surrounding a generation is not unusual. There have also been various Kanto events. Now, it seems to be about Pokémon from the 4th generation:
- Catch X Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup
- Catch X Buneary
- Use a Sinnoh Stone when evolving Pokémon
- Hatch X Eggs
- Win a raid
What might happen in the Sinnoh event? Based purely on the quests, one hot candidate for a new shiny can be identified: Buneary. After all, this Pokémon doesn’t exist as a shiny yet, and it wouldn’t really make sense for the event otherwise. However, this is only speculation so far.
It wouldn’t hurt to save some Sinnoh Stones. If the quest has a strong reward, then saving could be worth it.
When could the events start? The Valentine’s Day event should logically start around February 14. The current Lunar New Year event runs until 10 PM on February 3. So there would be enough time between that date and Valentine’s Day to hold the Sinnoh event.
It could, therefore, be that the first half of February will be quite busy.
What else have dataminers found? In addition to the findings regarding the events, there were further discoveries about a new item. Dataminers have also found “Elite TMs”. These TMs should allow you to teach the moves you want directly. So you wouldn’t have to hope for the right move anymore; instead, you can set the attack directly.
When this item will be introduced into the game is still unclear. It would be quite important, as with the new PvP league, many attacks will also be changed.
