In Pokémon GO, things are heating up with the Mega Evolutions. Data miners found various news about the function of the special evolutions in the latest update.
This is the status of Mega Evolutions: A few weeks ago, Niantic announced the Mega Evolutions for Pokémon GO. After that, there were some small hints in images, but otherwise, it went quiet regarding a release.
Now there is a new update in Pokémon GO and it’s full of information about the evolutions. We give you an overview.
Mega Raids and Special Candies
Here are the contents of the update: The majority of the update focuses on the Mega Evolutions. Other changes are minor and not noteworthy. Here’s a list of what was found regarding the Mega Evolutions by the data miners:
- There are supposed to be Mega Raids that have their own music – it’s supposed to be a whole new raid type.
- In the Mega Raids, you should earn Mega Candies, which you can presumably use for evolution.
- There are supposed to be quests that you must complete before a Mega Evolution.
- Mega Evolutions are supposed to be temporary and after some time, the Pokémon should revert back – suitable animations have also been found for this.
- Mega Evolutions are supposed to have a boost – the exact nature of this is not known.
- 2 new Mega Medals have been discovered.
This might be behind the Mega Raids: The data miners are still in the dark here. However, text passages for the raids have been found.
In these raids, you might find already developed Mega Pokémon that you can then battle. There is supposed to be a whole new symbol on the map for this.
The Mega Candies are supposed to be rewards from the raids. With them, you should be able to evolve into Mega Pokémon. It seems that regular candies are not sufficient for this evolution. The Mega Candies, however, do not appear to be tied to a specific Pokémon. You might be able to use them like special candies.
This is how the evolutions are supposed to work: According to the findings in the update, Mega Evolutions are only supposed to be temporary. It was the same in the console games. You can evolve the Pokémon for a battle or a little longer, and after that, it reverts back.
What you need to keep in mind: These are only findings from data miners. They access the text files of Pokémon GO and read these files.
It is not guaranteed that all these points will be implemented exactly as reported in the game. Therefore, this is not official information from Niantic.
When could the Mega Evolutions come? After the first announcement, things went pretty quiet regarding the Mega Evolutions. A release could be imminent. After all, there are already so many details in the game files.
The time around the GO Fest and the Hyper Bonus is coming to an end, and a new event is not yet known. So it is quite possible that we will soon see the first Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO.
