Catching regional Pokémon in Pokémon GO often involves long distances or trades. However, soon your Pokédex may have one more entry.
Here is the leak: The data miners from Pokeminers have once again uncovered a leak (via Reddit). This leak hinted at, among other things, the smoke event, found a clue regarding the next Community Day, and also provided news about remote raids.
Regional Pokémon also play a role in the leak. Specifically: the two monsters Volbeat and Illumise. According to Pokeminers, the following line was found in the code:
volbeat_illumise-all-regions
This indicates that both monsters may soon appear worldwide in the wild. So it’s possible that a new Pokédex entry is on the horizon.
Illumise has been difficult to obtain
Here has been the situation so far: Volbeat and Illumise are part of the list of regional Pokémon, which can only be caught in specific locations.
- Illumise can be found in North America, South America, and Africa
- Volbeat can be found in Europe, Asia, and Australia
While it was possible to catch Volbeat here, you had to either travel or find a trade partner who already had Illumise.
Both monsters are currently also not available as Shiny. On Reddit, players speculate that the timing of a worldwide distribution could also be a good time to introduce the Shiny versions of both monsters. Thus, players who already have a Volbeat or Illumise might be motivated to search for both monsters again.
Are the two monsters useful? In battle, Illumise and Volbeat won’t really help you. In the PvP leagues, other monsters occupy the top spots, and in raids and gyms, you can confidently rely on other Pokémon.
Nevertheless, you can at least take another step toward completing the full Pokédex when both monsters become available everywhere.
