The Pokémon GO Tour: Johto starts in a few days. With this overview, we prepare you well for the event. Everything about the start, end, tickets, editions, content, and shinies explained in 3 minutes.
What kind of event is this? The GO Tour: Johto revolves around Pokémon from the second generation of games. The main part of the event is active only on one day. After that, there will be a few live events, which however have significantly fewer bonuses.

Everything about the start, end, shinies & editions
When does it start? The Johto Tour starts on Saturday, February 26th, at 09:00 local time.
When does it end? You can play the Johto Tour until 21:00 on February 26th.
But keep in mind that there will also be live events at selected locations on Saturday. They will run from 10:00 to 17:00 at the following locations:
- Linz, AT: City Park
- Berlin, DE: Britzer Garten*
- Dortmund, DE: Westfalenpark*
- Essen, DE: Burgplatz
- Hamburg, DE: Überseeboulevard
- Hannover, DE: Steintorplatz
*Entry to the Britzer Garten and the Westfalenpark is subject to a fee. You can find the prices on the websites of the locations.
Does it cost something? Yes and No. If you want, you can buy a ticket for the event. The ticket costs about €12 and is available in the shop within Pokémon GO. By purchasing the ticket, you unlock special content that players without the ticket cannot access. However, the ticket is not a “must.” You can also participate in the Johto Tour without spending money.

What do the editions offer? Ticket buyers must decide whether to play the gold or silver edition of the Johto Tour. Depending on which edition you choose, it will affect the Pokémon you encounter. To complete the collector’s challenge, it is necessary to trade with players who have chosen the other edition. Specific Pokémon from an edition will be attracted by incense. Furthermore, the chance of encountering selected shiny Pokémon varies by edition.

It is important: Once you have chosen an edition for the Johto Tour, that counts for the event and cannot be undone.
Are there habitats again? Yes! During the event, there are five different habitats named after locations from the Johto region. Different Pokémon will spawn in the various habitats.

What attacks are there? During the event, Pokémon like Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Tyranitar, Espeon, Umbreon, and Mamoswine can learn event-exclusive attacks from past Community Days.
What research options are there? Special attacks can also be learned by the new Apex Shadow forms of Lugia and Ho-Oh, which you can obtain only in the Masterwork Research for ticket holders. A ticket also provides access to the research with Celebi.
For trainers with and without tickets, there is a timed research that gives you encounters with Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, as well as a timed research for the Johto Battle League.
What changes in raids? In the raids during the Johto Tour, you’ll find legendary and regional Pokémon. Niantic has already stated that you will find Pokémon like Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Lugia, and Ho-Oh in level 5 raids. All of them can be found and caught as shiny. Ticket holders will also receive a bundle with three Remote Raid passes and up to nine Raid passes when spinning photo discs at stops or gyms.
