In Pokémon GO there is a new Raid Boss to fight starting this evening. Kobalium returns and brings a new attack. We’ll tell you if it’s finally worth it.
When does Kobalium arrive? The legendary Pokémon returns today, March 17, at 10:00 PM. As there will be no more raids in Germany at that time, it will be available here basically starting tomorrow. It will remain available until March 23 at 10:00 PM.
Kobalium will appear for the first time as Shiny and knows the move Sanctoklinge.
Kobalium has been useless – Is it better now?
Are Kobalium Raids worth it now? Until now, Kobalium was one of the weakest legendary Pokémon in the game. It was not useful for raids or PvP.
Now things are changing a bit. At least the Shiny version of Kobalium should attract some trainers and persuade them to participate in raids. Additionally, the exclusive move makes Kobalium significantly stronger.
How strong is Kobalium with Sanctoklinge? As a Fighting attacker, Kobalium becomes significantly stronger. However, the problem is that it does not know any Fighting-type fast move and is therefore much weaker in this type, than other competitors.
Lucario or Meistagrif remain significantly better. Nevertheless, Kobalium is now more usable and may not be a bad choice, especially for beginners, if you have no other alternatives.
What is the chance of getting a Shiny? The Shiny rate for legendary Pokémon is usually 1 in 19. In theory, you would have to do 19 raids to obtain a Shiny.
How to counter Kobalium? The legendary Pokémon has weaknesses to Fighting, Fire, and Ground. The best counters are Skelabra, Lohgock, and Lavados. However, this does not consider the Crypto Pokémon, which are now significantly stronger.

The legendary Pokémon can be defeated with 3 solid players. This is even possible at Level 30.
