The new year starts in Pokémon GO with the New Year’s event. What you can gain and what is particularly worthwhile is explained here.
When is the event? The event starts on January 1, 2024, at 10:00 and ends on Wednesday, January 3, at 20:00. Here, Pokémon will be waiting for you in the wild, in field research, and in eggs, as well as special raid battles, event bonuses, an event box, and a paid limited research. By the way: the first Community Day 2024 with Bauz starts on January 6.
Additionally, the sky in Pokémon GO will be illuminated with colorful fireworks during the event to celebrate the new year.
As often, there will be bonuses during the event. Eggs that you place in egg incubators during the event will only require half the usual hatching distance. The first three eggs you place in egg incubators during the event using the widget will even only need a quarter of the usual hatching distance.

Which Pokémon will be in the wild? The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild:
- Pummeluff with bow **
- Hoothoot with New Year’s outfit **
- Flampion **
- Bronzel ** (rare)
Pokémon marked with ** can appear as shiny. Pummeluff with bow will be found in the game for the first time.

Which Pokémon can be obtained through field research? In field research, Flampion and Bronzel are waiting as rewards, with Bronzel being rarer. Both Pokémon can appear as shiny.

What else is there at the event? At the New Year’s event, there will be an event box for 99 PokéCoins, which will contain an incubator and a premium battle pass. New avatar accessories will also be unlocked at the start of the event.
Who will benefit from the event? If you need reinforcements for your fire team, the evolution of Flampion, Flampivian, is a good recommendation. This is a strong attacker.
Collectors can also get even more out of the event. With the appearance of many Pokémon in event outfits, all of which can also appear as shiny, there is a lot to collect. It should be mentioned again that Pummeluff with bow will be found in the game for the first time.
