In Pokémon GO, the autumn event starts on October 9, 2020. It brings Shiny Vulpix, which many players have been eagerly waiting for. Additionally, a brand new Pokémon from Gen. 5, Sesokitz, enters the game.
What kind of event is this? As it gets colder outside, the leaves turn red and fall from the trees, it will also become autumn in Pokémon GO. This is celebrated in the mobile game with new bonuses, encounters with a new, shiny specimen, and even a brand new Pokémon.
The autumn event brings you the following innovations:
- More berries by spinning PokéStops
- Berries are twice as effective when given to your buddy
- Forest-themed Pokémon like Tannza, Knilz, or Mogelbaum appear more frequently in the wild
- Shiny Vulpix appears for the first time in the game
- Sesokitz, a new Pokémon from Generation 5, will be released
- Autumnal Pokémon hatch from 5 km eggs
What you need to know about the autumn event
When does the autumn event start? On Friday morning, October 9, the event begins at 5:00 PM German time. Just a few days later, on Monday evening, it will be over again.
The autumn event ends on Monday, October 12, at 10:00 PM German time. (Niantic later changed the timing. Initially, it was stated that the event would run from Friday 8 AM local time until Monday 1 PM local time)
Which Pokémon will appear more frequently? While the event is ongoing, you will encounter the following Pokémon species more frequently in the wild
- Myrapla*,
- Vulpix*,
- Lorblatt,
- Hoothoot,
- Mogelbaum*,
- Yanma*,
- Tannza*,
- Zigzachs*,
- Samurzel*,
- Knilz,
- Burmy (Plant Cloak)*
- and Tarnpignon
Pokémon marked with a * can even be encountered in their shiny form if you are lucky.

What does Shiny Vulpix look like? A shiny that trainers have long wished for in Pokémon GO is Vulpix. It is one of the few species from the first generation that has yet to receive its shiny form.
The Kanto form finally appears in Pokémon GO during the autumn event and will remain in the game. Here is what the shiny form looks like:
Who is the new Sesokitz? The Pokémon Sesokitz is of the Normal and Grass types. It can evolve into Kronjuwild.
The special thing about this Pokémon is that it can appear in four forms. And these forms depend on the season. Initially, you will find the autumn form of Sesokitz in Pokémon GO. We will show you how this looks and the corresponding evolution into Kronjuwild in the graphic:
First hints of this special Pokémon appeared back in December 2019. At that time, Niantic did not introduce the Pokémon in the game despite the hint in the loading screen.
