The Halloween event 2022 might bring a special Pokémon to Pokémon GO: Zorua. There are indications of an upcoming release of the “Ditto Pokémon.” What we know so far.
Update from October 25: Niantic confirms that Zorua will be released in Pokémon GO. The assumption is now officially correct, and you can look forward to the new Pokémon that changes its form.
It’s October and the big Halloween event in Pokémon GO is getting closer. Part 1 starts on October 20 and runs until October 27, Part 2 begins right after.
A lot of content for the first part of the event is already known: from candy bonuses to a new special research, to special music and the debut of Mega Banette, many different contents will be available. However, nothing is known yet about “Part 2.”
As of now, one can only speculate what the Halloween event might bring. However, dataminers have already found hints that a new monster might soon appear: Zorua.

Dataminers find first data on Zorua, the shapeshifter
What was found? On October 6, the “Pokeminers” shared a leak showing various contents, such as possible effects for the map for Halloween.
Part of this leak also included assets named “Zorua ‘Ditto Encounter,'” including a glowing effect and a special background.
In a new datamine for APK version 0.251.2 from October 18, shared by the Pokeminers in the Pokémon GO subreddit “TheSilphRoad,” a new line named “zoruaScaleMultiplier” is also mentioned, which was added to the “Ditto Reveal Encounter” (via Pokeminers).
Thus, Zorua, if it comes to the game soon, could appear in a similar form as Ditto – disguised as another monster that only reveals itself through catching or another action. Moreover, considering the main games, such a feature would also be plausible for Zorua.
What kind of monster is Zorua? Zorua would not only fit well with Halloween due to its Dark type but also brings a special ability from the main Pokémon series: Illusion.
Its evolution Zoroark also possesses this ability. It is one of the few monsters of the 5th generation that are still missing.
In the main series, Zorua visually transforms into the last battle-capable Pokémon in the team, thus looking completely different. However, it keeps its attacks, which could confuse opponents.
In the Pokédex, Zorua is also described as a shapeshifter that tricks its opponents by assuming a different appearance. It can even disguise itself as a human – not just as a Pokémon.
Additionally, Zorua and Zoroark have a Hisui form of Normal/Ghost type. The backstory states that these are deceased Zorua that were reborn as ghost Pokémon due to anger. If that’s not fitting for Halloween!
What to consider: Currently, the information is purely based on leaks and not official information. It is therefore not certain that Zorua and Zoroark will come to the game in this form – but the hints are accumulating.
As soon as there is more information, we will keep you updated! And for what else is coming in Pokémon GO, you can find an overview of the Pokémon GO events in October 2022.
