The augmented reality app Pokémon GO is still successful in 2017. The results of our survey.
Back then, in summer 2016, a small smartphone app called Pokémon GO was the topic in all media for weeks. The app ran unstable, often didn’t work, and drained the battery quickly. Nevertheless, millions of people worldwide used Pokémon GO to chase small, virtual monsters in train stations, parks, and new housing developments.
But that was all in 2016, and now, a year later, the question arises whether Pokémon GO was a one-time phenomenon or if anyone still plays it today.
Pokémon GO – Many of you are still fully engaged
Last week we wanted to know from you if you still play Pokémon GO and how often. A total of 1,300 readers participated in this survey. The result was surprisingly clear. A solid 44 percent of participants are still playing it as enthusiastically as in 2016.
23 percent are also still playing it often, but not as frequently as before. 8 percent are still in, but now only play every few weeks, for example, when the opportunity arises or during an event. Only 18 percent have completely turned away from the game and 7 percent of respondents have never played Pokémon GO at all.
Pokémon GO is still a successful game, and thanks to the new arenas and the raid feature, trainers are being challenged again. So, if you’re wondering whether Pokémon GO is worth it again, you can confidently take your phone in hand and go hunting.
Jürgen says: I have now become one of the casual players of Pokémon GO, as I no longer actively go hunting every day, but I still collect my arena and Pokéstop in front of the house every day. And on vacation or during events, I also occasionally go out hunting.
