When does the Spotlight Hour start? The Spotlight Hour on February 17, 2026, starts at 6:00 PM. As usual, a specific Pokémon will appear in all corners of the wilderness until 7:00 PM, before the current spawns of the Lunar New Year event appear again.
Which Pokémon will appear? Seadra is the Pokémon of the Spotlight Hour on February 17. It is from the first generation and evolves into Seaking and Kingdra.
Can Seadra be Shiny? Yes, the shiny version of Seadra is also catchable. However, keep in mind that the chance of finding one is not increased. So you’ll need some luck.
What bonus is active? You will receive double the amount of candy when you send Pokémon to the professor.
Is the Spotlight Hour with Seadra worth it?
Seadra is not a really useful attacker when it comes to raids – and unfortunately, this also applies to its evolutions.
However, its final evolution, Kingdra, has its areas of use – namely in the battle league. It is useful in the Great League, and even better in the Ultra League.
The bonus also allows you to secure candy for Pokémon for which you have a few unused specimens in your collection. It’s best to sort your Pokémon collection by day in advance of the event and then send away everything you don’t need anymore.
Finally, you can also use the hour to keep your eyes open for golden PokéStops. They are active due to the Lunar New Year event.
