In early August, Pokémon GO lost about 12 million daily players. Usage time is also declining.
After starting with particularly high user numbers, those figures are now declining. The reasons for this can be varied. On one hand, popular features were removed from the game, which did not sit well with many fans. On the other hand, developer Niantic has declared war on cheaters and bot services and is now banning them from the game. This is also a possible reason for the decreasing player numbers.
The numbers have declined significantly so far
At the very beginning of Pokémon GO, it was clear that the game captivates fans. It quickly established itself against other mobile games like Clash Royale or even Candy Crush in terms of daily users. Many successful apps were overshadowed by Pokémon GO. But not only that: Pokémon GO also set 5 Guinness World Records!
In the meantime, according to Bloomberg, the numbers for Pokémon GO are declining. In July, there were about 45,000,000 users worldwide playing the game simultaneously. By early August, there were “only” just over 30,000,000 active players simultaneously.
The latest patch allows players to have their Pokémon evaluated by the various team leaders. Through this evaluation, one gets a rough idea of where the strengths and weaknesses of your Pokémon lie. This feature could give more players a chance to engage with the game again, as many had left due to the lack of transparency regarding the Pokémon’s stats.
