In Pokémon GO the major avatar update received a lot of criticism from the trainers, but now the appearance of the character is supposed to change again. We have summarized here on MeinMMO what discovery the players have made and how they are reacting.
What function is in question? A few weeks ago, a major update with 4 features took place in Pokémon GO, during which the characters of the players were fundamentally redesigned. In addition to new settings for skin and eye color, hairstyle and facial expression, you should especially have the opportunity to adjust your avatar regarding its body shape.
However, these innovations backfired significantly and caused a lot of criticism in the community. Now the developers are supposed to be working on changing the characters again. What the first players have discovered in this regard and what their opinion is, we will show you below.

Trainer discovers changes in the avatar
What have trainers found? As the Reddit user PrestyRS shows in his current post, the developers of Pokémon GO seem to be making changes to the characters of the trainers again. He shows in his post two examples where the changes in the avatar can be seen.
What changes have been made? If you take a closer look at the two images, you can see that the female avatars now have significantly more pronounced body shapes. This was one of the points of criticism in the past, as many players felt that their avatar had no proportions after the major update and thus looked unnatural.
Also, the skin tones are said to have been revised again, as galarianzapdos explains on Reddit: The skin tones have also been updated. The lighting/shadow is slightly better.
In addition, slight changes can be seen in the characters’ faces, as Jepemega writes in the Reddit comments: The face looks like it has returned to the old faces or something very similar. The mouth is much better now. Before it felt like they had this strange forced half-smile on their face which was really inappropriate.
However, the changes are said to not affect all players yet, as can also be seen from the comments. It can therefore be assumed that Niantic is initially testing new content with selected players before it is rolled out to all accounts.
How do trainers feel about the avatar change?
A lot of criticism of the changes: Opinions about the new avatar change are mixed in the Reddit community. While some players are glad that Niantic is finally addressing the criticism and wants to improve the characters again, others complain about the changes.
Many particularly ridicule the extreme appearance of the body shapes and again criticize the work of the developers. In the comments, you can read the following on Reddit:

Trainers defend the change: But there are also players who see a good way in the changes and hope for more customization options for the avatar. They also assume that the exaggerated look is not solely the fault of the developers, but could be related to the settings of the individual players. They write on Reddit:

This is obviously because people have set the “Hips” slider to maximum and haven’t logged in since the update. At least they are trying to fix it, right? I assume (and hope) that there will now be many settings between the 10-year-old boy and the incredible woman.
