Pokémon GO has discontinued support for the Apple Watch. Players are encouraged to utilize a feature of the game that functions similarly.
When will support be discontinued? Starting July 1st, you will not be able to use the Apple Watch to play Pokémon GO. Until then, everything will work as usual.
Which feature should players rely on? Niantic mentions that Adventure Sync would achieve nearly the same results, allowing players to play on just one device instead of two.
Pokémon GO not available on Apple Watch – Does Adventure Sync really help?
How did it work on the Apple Watch? The Apple Watch had only a few features of Pokémon GO. For instance, you could spin PokéStops, hatch eggs, or see your buddy Pokémon.
You couldn’t catch Pokémon on the Apple Watch. This could only be done with GO Plus or directly through the app.
Does Adventure Sync replace the Apple Watch? The main advantage of the Apple Watch was that it tracked kilometers even when the app wasn’t open. Since the update with Adventure Sync, this is also possible without the Apple Watch. Eggs can be hatched even when Pokémon GO is not open.
What Adventure Sync cannot do is spin PokéStops. This only works with a GO Plus or similar gadget when your screen is off. Thus, one important feature from the Apple Watch is lost.
Moreover, players with an Apple Watch repeatedly reported that their kilometers counted significantly faster. Even after numerous updates, the problem couldn’t be fully resolved. These players can no longer exploit this bug.
What do you think? Did you enjoy playing with the Apple Watch, or does it not affect you?
