Data miners have found indications of 3 new methods to obtain the rare XL candies in the code of Pokémon GO. We will show you the findings.
What has been discovered: The data miners from Pokeminers have once again searched the code of Pokémon GO and shared their info on reddit. They have come across new information regarding the XL candies. These XL candies can be obtained starting from level 40 and allow you to further level up monsters from level 40 onwards.
So far, the candies are quite rare, and many trainers wish for more opportunities to obtain them. This wish may soon be fulfilled.
Changes may soon happen regarding XL candies
Earn XL candies through your buddy: The first new method revolves around your buddy Pokémon. It seems that soon you will be able to earn XL candies by walking with your buddy. Previously, you would only receive a normal candy after walking a certain distance.
It remains to be seen whether you will receive an XL candy every time or if it will alternate with a normal candy.
XL candies through Pokémon Home: By sending Pokémon, you sometimes already receive an XL candy. However, other Pokémon platforms are likely to be added. The data miners have found indications that by sending Pokémon to Pokémon Home or Let’s GO, Pikachu/Eevee, you are supposed to receive one XL candy.
Whether this is guaranteed or just as random as with normal sending is unclear.
Guaranteed XL candies when catching: This might be the most interesting aspect for all trainers. Until now, you could only receive XL candies for catching Pokémon occasionally. However, files have been found indicating that there may also be guaranteed XL candies for caught Pokémon.
This may not be active for every monster, but some Pokémon could soon include this possibility. Monsters from raids would be suitable for this. This way, you would have realistic chances of obtaining enough XL candies from legendary Pokémon.
What you need to consider: These are just pieces of information from data miners. They have not yet been officially confirmed by Niantic. It may take a while for these 3 methods to be implemented in the game. They could also be completely discarded. Therefore, view this information with a pinch of skepticism.
